A recent debt reduction, new capital raise coincided with an injection of a completely new management team and board, revitalizing the core assets and liquidity to aggressively grow/scale the business.

Summary / Objective:
Reporting directly to the CFO, the candidate’s primary responsibilities will include mastering current financial systems, managing compliance activities, developing controls to ensure sound financial operations and serving as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will also supervise and work closely with a seasoned team of managers and accountants that oversee Billings, Revenue Recognition, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Tax and General Accounting. Essential Function Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.

  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Ensuring corporate-wide compliance of all FASB, GAAP, and other standards,
  • Regulatory/Government reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements;
  • Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; making investments.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans. Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Required qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of experience: Including time in public accounting up to the Manager(+) level, followed by industry experience in an SEC reporting environment;
  • Management experience over employees;
  • Expert technical accounting skills and experience leading accounting operations and an audit process;
  • Knowledge of new and evolving accounting best practices;
  • Familiarity with state Sales and Use tax, and corporate tax filings and reporting;
  • Strong aptitude for financial analysis;
  • CPA designation;
  • Demonstrated success in past positions achieving the highest corporate integrity and comfort with strong cultures dedicated to achieving results.
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • Previous experience working in a digital media, advanced marketing services, subscription services, events, or a relevant technology business;
  • Experience working in Private Equity or VC-backed organizations;
  • Experience taking a company public;
  • M&A experience, including due diligence and post-acquisition integration
