IAR is a leadership search firm founded by leaders from successful startups. We focus on helping high growth technology companies solve their most complex talent challenges. Located in Chicago, we work across the country with a wide variety of companies – from small founding teams to organizations valued in the billions. We act as both consultant and search partner to fully understand needs, goals and values. We are selective about who we work with and take on 50% of the clients that come our way. It’s not because we hate revenue – we are selective because it matters. We are an extension of our clients – to be passionate and add real value we only represent companies and cultures that we can get behind. We have been fortunate to build a loyal and rapidly growing group of clients. 100% recommend us and the vast majority have worked with us multiple times.

With our rapid, sustainable growth, we are looking to add an Associate to our fast growing, high energy team.

What will I make?

IAR is highly transparent about compensation – salary and bonus structure for all employees are visible to the entire team.  The annual base salary for an Associate is $70,000.  Additionally, this role is eligible to receive an annual bonus equivalent to 10% of their base salary.  IAR is happy to offer medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance as well as a 401K plan.  IAR automatically contributes 3% of base salary to our employees’ 401K accounts on an annual basis, regardless of their personal contribution.

When will I start?

Finding the right person is more important than getting someone quickly.  That said, this is a vital role for and we are eager to get this individual on board as soon as possible.

Who will I report to?

This role will report directly to the CEO, Grant Zallis and work with our Principal, Maureen MacDonald and Director, Molly Keegan on a daily basis.

What will I do?

This role is deeply important to ensure our continued growth and success.  It is important to note that the right candidate may not necessarily come from a recruiting background.  Everyone on the IAR team has been part of a start-up story but most of us aren’t career recruiters.  Our team is composed of individuals from the startup ecosystem who are genuinely curious about how companies grow and evolve.  This means the right person may come from recruiting.  They may also come from HR, customer success, sales, marketing, project management, or other operational roles.

In terms of responsibilities, we expect this person to ramp up by getting to know us, our current clients and their business objectives. Within the first 30 days, this person should understand IAR’s value proposition and points of differentiation and be able to articulate it to clients and candidates.  We expect this person to become a trusted partner for our clients. Within the first 60 days, this person will be communicating directly with clients, preparing and helping present information critical to our success.  Examples include research materials, kickoff decks, candidate evaluations, and regular updates for searches.

A large part of our success is dependent on a highly effective candidate research and targeted outreach strategy.  In addition to client communications work mentioned above, this person will translate the objectives of our clients into thoughtful research, helping identify the best candidates, and personalized outreach strategies.  This person will be trusted to identify candidates with little to no supervision and draft unique messaging to drive interest.  We have a suite of technology tools to help with this process.  That said, we love to see what else is out there – we expect this person to suggest and invest in new tools and software solutions that improve our process.

Finally, we work hard but don’t take ourselves too seriously.  We are all entrepreneurs who genuinely enjoy the work we do and the impact we make.  We have seen founding teams grow to become world class organizations.  We have also seen the opposite.  In order to ensure we are part of the former, we have established a set of core values that drive everything we do.  In order to be successful over the first 90 days, this person will become a part of the team by understanding and living these core values:

1. Clients and Candidates First - We exist to make our clients and candidates more successful, not the other way around.

2. Fit Matters - We only engage with clients that we would personally work for.  We believe this leads to better outcomes for our clients and for us.

3. Candidates Matter as Much as Clients - We believe that candidate experience is as important as client experience. We work hard to ensure both are delighted.

4. Integrity - We are honest – our integrity is our greatest asset – one that we will not sacrifice.

5. We Invest in our Team - The development and growth of our team is as important as the work we do for our clients.

What are the requirements?

From a cultural perspective, this person will:

  • Be known for being patient and authentic.  They will genuinely enjoy building relationships with coworkers and be someone that others would want to follow to their next role.

  • Align with our core values and have examples of how they have lived them in the past.
