About the role:

In the last year, Farmer's Fridge has more than doubled in size and we are entering an exciting period of growth and expansion. We are looking for an operations-oriented person to help us scale our HR department and define our people practices for this next phase of our company!

Our ideal candidate is nimble, smart, willing to roll up their sleeves and get dirt under their fingernails, work in our kitchen, hop on a delivery route, and present to large groups. Most importantly, they love creating scalable and repeatable processes out of vision & ideas.

What kind of person are we looking for?

  • Passionate about attracting employees who live and breathe our mission, and setting them up for success to do the best work of their lives at Farmer's Fridge.
  • You have a keen ability to read people, build trust, and sift through emotional situations to identify core issues.
  • You're able to manage the long-term vision with the short-term need (We love the analogy of building an airplane at 30,000 feet). We have a number of processes that are in the midst of optimization and improvement, but need daily execution in parallel.
  • You are scrappy and resourceful, and while you may have played different roles in your organization, your career has centered around building best in class people systems and growing a healthy culture to support the rapid growth of a new business. It is a fast-paced environment, and this position will give you the experience to catapult your career.

What you are not: Slow paced. Timid. A follower. Afraid of change. Looking for an army of people or resources to get anything done.

In a typical week, you will…

  • Build, maintain, and manage effective employee onboarding and offboarding programs including associated budget
  • Draft, maintain, and communicate employee policies in partnership with legal department to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Resolve complex people problems by applying relevant policies, past practices and/or best practices to reach a conclusion, including escalation as needed
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and coaching on performance management (review process and ongoing, real-time feedback)
  • Partner with HR, leadership in maintaining and executing Labor risk assessment and mitigation strategy.
  • Manage employee communication tools (intranet, LMS)
  • Establish training plans and career paths for exempt and non-exempt employees

Minimum requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of HR leadership experience
  • Built a people function with demonstrated ingenuity
  • Worked in a high-growth environment
  • The ability to operationalize scalable, repeatable people processes
  • Comfort with exempt, non-exempt, and contractors
  • Managed a team (people & budget)
  • Collaborated with (or directly managed) HR administrative functions
  • A deep passion for food and the Farmer's Fridge mission that everyone deserves the chance to eat better
  • The ability to operate in ambiguous situations and be flexible as the organization changes and grows - we are a new place every quarter!
