As part of achieving this goal, the Director, Physician Compensation will build and implement the system and process to successfully administer the physician compensation program. In this role, we are looking for a service-minded and detail-oriented individual who will successfully build meaningful relationships across stakeholders and has the ability to manage large-scale programming from concept through fruition.

In this newly created role, you will lead development of provider compensation standards and manage the compensation review process across multiple geographies throughout the organization. Reporting to our VP, Practice Management and Support Services, you will have accountability for and national oversight of provider compensation plans. Additional responsibilities include planning, development and implementation of specific pay practices to ensure legal compliance with company policies, state, and federal regulations. You’ll need to demonstrate the ability to inform and influence market leadership by developing and nurturing strong relationships that result in execution.

Examples of key accountabilities in this role include:

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating physician compensation strategies and models that align with financial and organizational objectives including physician productivity and performance
  • Collaborating with executive leadership, legal counsel and third-party fair market valuation firm to substantiate valuations, develop new agreements, and make necessary revisions to existing agreements
  • Building the necessary systems and processes to successfully administer a fully automated physician compensation program, including measurement and checks and balances
  • Ensuring documentation of the necessary time sheets and other requirements resulting in accurate and reliable data to validate that providers are being paid according to agreements
  • Monitoring process to facilitate the timely flow of contract documents through the approval process and that all appropriate approvals are obtained
  • Maintaining current knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to physician contracts

What you bring to VillageMD:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant, progressive physician compensation experience
  • Working knowledge and experience with physician contracts, compensation models, and fair market value considerations
  • Experience developing and negotiating acquisitions, joint ventures, and similar business arrangements with healthcare provider
  • Proven reporting and program development experience including past experiences building cohesive process and supporting structure in a geographically dispersed, complex business structure
  • Prior experience managing a large-scale project, initiative or department
  • Desire to be hands-on with a track record of “rolling up your sleeves” to drive desired outcomes
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage and pivot between competing priorities
  • Proven experience operating successfully within ambiguity; a results-oriented professional who can make sense of chaos to continually deliver desired results
  • A flexible mindset and personality; someone who can demonstrate the ability to think outside the box and formulate creative solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, a high attention to detail, and critical problem-solving skills to garner credibility and develop strong relationships
  • Ability to travel as needed
