Could this be you? 

As Director, Physician Recruiting you will build and lead our team of physician recruiters, working under the direction of our VP of Talent Development within our newly established Relationship Development group. As an expert in primary care recruiting, you will implement the VillageMD vision to ensure we are recruiting top talent that will drive patient care.  In this newly created and highly collaborative role, you will help the business scale by empowering and inspiring our recruiters to attract high caliber physician talent to our model of care. You will establish consistency in recruiting practices across emerging and existing national markets by identifying and implementing best practices in attracting and screening physician talent. You’ll need to forge meaningful relationships and collaborate with other business development functions, coordinate multiple recruiting efforts while identifying and resolving organizational barriers. Your enthusiasm for team leadership will enable your success in our high growth environment.

How you can make a difference 

  • Drive industry leading performance in physician recruiting by recommending ideas and strategies related to relationship development and recruitment that will contribute to the long-range growth of the company
  • Develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures to ensure successful acquisition of physician talent with a constant focus on innovation
  • Keep current of new state and federal regulations or accreditation standards impacting recruitment and hiring practices
  • Create and standardize best practices for physician recruiting
  • Identify the technology, training and tools required to drive top tier quality performance
  • Working across internal teams to develop and strengthen relationships with relevant associations at the national and regional level to distinguish Village Medical as an employer of choice for physicians wanting to transition to a value-based model of care
  • Building and maintaining an active network with appropriate residency programs and private practice associations across markets through pro-active market research and on-going relationship management

  • High emotional intelligence, the ability to forge meaningful relationships, and success navigating diverse stakeholder groups
  • A keen sense of personal accountability for delivering individual and team results
  • Experience performing under pressure with a sense of urgency, attention to detail, and a commitment to doing what you say you will do
  • A passion for being hands-on in problem-solving and execution
  • A low ego and humility; an ability to gain trust through effective communication and doing what you say you will do

Experience to drive change 

  • 7+ years of experience in physician recruiting, ideally with primary care, internal medicine and family medicine recruiting
  • Excitement and passion for healthcare
  • Comfort with launching and leading new initiatives while driving transformation and change management
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with knowledge and experience in high-growth business environments including ability to roll-up sleeves and dig into the details of the work
  • Ability to quickly gain credibility and establish the required relationships to influence and generate results; can quickly influence market partners to take action
  • Extreme flexibility and the desire to lead an energetic and passionate talent acquisition team
  • A reputation for discretion, integrity, judgement, responsiveness, strong attention to detail and common sense
  • Bachelor’s degree required
