Director, Talent & Org Development
The Role
The Director, Talent & Organizational Development is responsible for providing strategy, leadership and expertise related to talent management, employee engagement and organizational development. In close partnership with the SVP, People, business leaders and peers, the Director, Talent & Organizational Development will develop and help deploy strategies, tools and routines that will enable the engagement, performance and growth of our teams and company. Along with the demonstrated skills and experience, we are looking for a leader who welcomes solving challenging problems, has exceptional business judgment and relationship skills and enjoys developing the strategy as much as being a key member of the execution. This position is based out of our headquarters in Chicago, IL with some travel required to our national growing footprint.
Responsibilities
- Create and deploy a centralized onboarding and training strategy that can support the various needs of our business (production, retail, shared services)
- Build and help support the implementation of annual talent processes such as goal setting and performance reviews
- Develop and implement employee engagement strategies and culture change initiatives in partnership with the people team and business leaders
- Identify leadership and organizational development needs and create programs to help our managers and teams grow
- Build and support the execution of talent planning within the organization, focusing on critical roles and reinforcing follow-up on development plans and actions
- Act as an organizational design coach and play a key role in shaping the future of the organization by developing and implementing organizational design strategies
- Build out and lead a Talent & Organizational Development team that will support our future growth (Learning and Development, Talent Management, Culture and Engagement, Leadership Development)
- Partner with VP of HR peers within Production, Retail and Shared Services, as well as our VP of Talent Acquisition and VP of Total Rewards to help implement initiatives. Gain insight and feedback for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, or related discipline with significant experience in HR or related field
- Minimum 10 years of previous experience in a variety of Talent Management/HR Manager positions with increasing scope of responsibility, including prior roles in organization and talent development
- Experience supporting multiple business units and functions
- Demonstrated ability to drive HR strategic agenda using knowledge of the organization and its employees
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change through strong influencing and change management skills in establishing trust, credibility and building collaboration at all levels of the organization
- Ability to support and coach senior leaders when appropriate
- Strong assessment skills coupled with excellent judgement and perspective on human resources opportunities
- Experience leading teams
- Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can effectively interface and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization
- Ability to travel 10-20% of the time to visit store and manufacturing locations
- Passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement

- Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry
