The Role:
We’re looking for an Employee Communications Associate to manage the promotion and implementation of employee events, while helping manage the team’s many communications requests. In this role, you’ll sit within our Corporate Communications team, which is comprised of Employee Communications (internal) and Media Relations (external) professionals. You’ll lead the planning and implementation of global employee events and develop event promotion campaigns to drive attendance and engagement. You’ll also play a key role in answering Employee Communications requests and take a journalistic approach to our intranet content by seeking stories from around the organization.
Some areas of responsibility:
• Internal Event Implementation—Coordinate, schedule, and execute events in our Chicago Auditorium with the help of IT, Design, and Facilities. Events include: Global Town Halls (5—7/yr), Earnings Recaps (4/yr), and Speakers@Morningstar (4+/yr); help plan the Annual Company Meeting
• Internal Event Promotion—Create event promotion campaigns that drive attendance to the events you manage (listed above) and help promote events hosted by other departments using email marketing, calendar invites, our intranet, and Yammer (our enterprise social networking platform)
• All-Company Calendar—Responsible for maintaining the all-company calendar housed on our intranet platform
• Employer Awards—Research possible employer award opportunities and work with Talent & Culture to craft submissions
• Internal Request Management—Monitor the Employee Communications ticketing system to ensure all requests are answered and completed in a timely manner; coordinate request completion with other Corporate Communications team members
• Internal Journalism—Actively seek stories from all parts of the organization to feature on our intranet to help foster understanding and interest in our business
Experience we’d like to see:
• Bachelor's degree required (Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or English is preferred)
• 1—3 years of relevant experience in corporate communications or marketing
• Interest in employee communications and event planning
• Detail-oriented and able to juggle multiple events, projects, and requests at once
• Self-starter and passion for learning
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; the ability to present and communicate ideas clearly to resonate with colleagues at all levels
• Familiarity with AP Style
• Creativity and confidence to suggest new ideas
• Experience with email marketing tools, like Eloqua or similar, is a plus
