Introducing the Global HRBP:
Reporting into the Global HR Strategy Director based in Europe, this role is located in the North American office in Chicago.
The main focus of this role is strategic HR business partnership for the rapidly transforming TMS Global Functions; IT and Technology, Project Management, and the Global Client Engagement team. This role also includes the opportunity to partner with the client services team for the iconic McDonald’s brand.
We are seeking a progressive Global HRBP to drive best practise change management and organizational design to help us leverage our talent, identify strategic capabilities, and bridge strategic capability gaps to be future fit- whilst helping evolve our culture and staying true to our values.
The role requires a results-orientated commercial thinker to connect the dots and take a 30,000-ft. common sense approach. It requires presence, personality, and to the ability to quickly build credibility to influence at the highest levels. Work is fast paced autonomous, and with competing priorities, and thus excellent expectation management skills are needed to manage this wildly ambitious team.
This role has purpose; thinking and contributing is expected, a willingness to share ideas and opinions to help create strategic HR plans and then deliver against these is a must. The HRBP has excellent commercial acumen; understanding of the P & L, terminology and how the business makes money.
Beyond the day to day we are about to embark on a number of exciting global HR projects around our values and employee value proposition. We are looking for a hand raiser, unafraid of a challenge to take a project and own it to completion; whilst we may have HR in our job titles- we don’t expect HR to do all the work; we’re looking for a HRBP that can build relationships and spot opportunities to bring skillsets together to help us deliver people projects like this.

The role benefits from the support and thought leadership of a much wider HR circle;, Leveraging resources and expertise from our parent company Havi’s shared services functions for recruitment, training, and development, benefits, and administrative services.
The HRBP is part of the TMS North America Agency team partnering closely with the HRBP who leads the NA Agency focused HR team on the ground. The HRBP plays an activate part in the TMS and Havi HR community, mentoring junior team members and sharing inspiration. As part of this wider HR circle our HRBPs benefit from access to industry leading information, best practise and the total support to focus on personal development. This role will not have direct reports to start giving the incumbent the opportunity to focus on business partnerships and making an immediate impact. In time, this role may evolve to include direct reports.
Responsibilities
Main Areas of Responsibility:
Business Partnering
The HRBP acts as a business partner for their key stakeholders across the business for People related conversations (steering towards strategic aims connected to business and HR goals); covering all manner of conversations pay, benefits, ER, development, workforce planning, exits, and works with the wider HR team.
The HRBP shares proposals and opinions and recommended actions (not just information). The HRBP often acts autonomously with senior stakeholders managing up as required.
The HRBP participates in annual people and organisation planning using this business and people strategy to drive workforce planning and strategic decision making plans and executes against these.
Change Management and Agency Transformation
The HRBP continually looks to futureproof the business; proactively spotting opportunities and handling change management as appropriate. The HRBP makes decisions with agency goals and growth in mind.
The HRBP is a proud supporter of agency transformation; sharing opinions, and being a visible positive agency presence; presenting at townhalls etc where applicable, and bringing their own passions to play often by instigating a relevant project or sitting on a project team locally or globally. The HRBP is well read, shares thought leadership (even authors this for the outside world) and takes an active interest in the industry, has strong industry connections, and is thus able to connect their actions to helping us build towards the future of the agency.
Specific Project Focus: The HRBP is responsible for executing the delivery of a critical global project across multiple formats, timelines, priorities and audiences with a focus on McDonald’s Happy Meal. This requires analysing qualitative and quantitative results to develop a recommendation in support of our business growth strategy, communicating progress across key client and internal communication channels, sharing content and best practise.
Data driven decisions
The HR Team makes data driven decisions and the HRBP procures ensures procurement of all information we can mine (in partnership with the HR Analytics partner at HAVI) analyse data to spot trends and utilises data to take action, sharing as and when appropriate.
Career Growth and Development
Rallies to inspire and motivate the business around goal setting, continual feedback and review and end of year reviews. Runs a seamless process but goes beyond to evolve, seek feedback and respond to help facilitate quality conversations. Ensures everyone has quality goals at all times. Seeks to actively embed a feedback culture of ‘failing up’ A HRBP seeks and shares thought leadership to evolve our talent management enable us to unleash the full potential of our people.
The HRBP acts as eyes and ears for development for all at all times; deploying their coaching skills to support managers and individuals with goal setting, looking for opportunities and bring ideas to the HR team around development. The HRBP partners with leadership to create Individual Development Plans for their people.

Ideal candidates
- Collaborative team players
- Will have proven background in agency, or tech environments managing fast paced change from start to finish and working with senior level executives ideally in a similar sized global organisation
- Keen industry knowledge and network or desire to learn more; trends, competitors etc.
- Experience working in global HR function
- Sufficient relevant experience of progressive human resource experience; inc strong understanding of HR and labour laws
- Experience in analysing and presenting complex data
- Relevant HR qualifications
