Smokeball helps law firms bill more without their clients paying more. Intriguing, right? We were founded by technology leaders with more than 20 years of experience in delivering impactful legal technology products. Our leadership continually strives to develop a company, culture, and team that share a profound love for the law and are compelled to help small law firms find success. What we need
We've been growing and promoting at Smokeball, which means we're in need of an HR Coordinator & Office Manager. This pivotal role will sit on the People Team and is perfect for someone who's ready to start their career in HR. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, has impressive organizational and project management skills, is an excellent communicator, and has impeccable attention to detail.
A day in the life:

• Assist with the New Hire Onboarding program, such as communicating with incoming employees, scheduling training sessions, ordering equipment, and creating the welcome packets
• Work with the Where's The Fun (WTF) Committee to plan and execute employee engagement initiatives, such as happy hours, game nights, and all-company parties
• Assist the People Team with additional HR tasks as needed
• Collect and distribute company mail daily, scanning documents to appropriate employees
• Oversee office maintenance, including entering tickets into the building management platform and ensuring they are addressed in a timely manner
• Enter all new employees and guests into building security system and manage employee badges
• Maintain a clean and sanitary office environment according to COVID-19 regulations
• Restock and order office snacks and supplies, and maintain the kitchen area and appliances
• Manage contract and price negotiations with office vendors and service providers
• Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds at a time
• Able and willing to work from the office 3-5 days/week

What you bring

• Experience working as an Office Manager or HR Coordinator a plus
• Proven organizational and project management skills
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make thoughtful decisions and recommend creative solutions
• Approachable demeanor with an innate desire to be helpful
• *Must live in Chicago

Jacquelyn: Hi, I'm Jacque! I'm the VP of People & Culture at Smokeball and absolutely love my job. Smokeball is one of those places where everyone's so great that you're constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop...but it never does! In my 3+ years here, I've never felt more supported, trusted, or cared for, and I can't wait to add more great talent to our People Team. Outside of work, I'm soaking up the snuggles from my adorable 4-month-old son and 4-year-old dog, cheering on the Steelers, eating too much macaroni and cheese, and singing constantly (I'm a professionally trained opera and jazz singer).

Linda: Hi, my name is Linda and I've worked for Smokeball for 5 ½ years! I love my HR Specialist job at Smokeball and how it's given me the opportunity to learn and grow and redefine my role throughout the years. Outside of work I'm happily focused on family time. I have a 16-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son, and they keep me busy with their activities, sports, and friends. But when I get some alone time, I love to shop, take long walks in the city, and listen to thriller audio books and true crime podcasts.
Marcoiya: Hi! My name is Marcoiya, and I have been with Smokeball for 5 months as the HR Talent Specialist. There are so many things that I like about working here, including the work-life balance, work flexibility, opportunity for career growth, and the transparency where I can truly be engaged with the business. We are also an organization that works hard, but also plays hard! I truly enjoy my co-workers! Outside of work, my biggest hobby includes traveling, domestic and international. This hobby comes from my love of new things: foods, culture, people, experiences, etc.
