Human Resource Business Partners at Groupon aren’t just doing the transactional elements of HR, they’re highly integrated in their designated business group and partner closely with leaders to help craft programs and policies. As a young yet evolving company, we’ve grown a robust HR department with dedicated resources for each business unit, along with Centers of Excellence for each of our HR functions. However, because we’re only 9 years old, there are still plenty of ways employees can impact, change, or improve how their department works. We want you to join our nimble, impactful, and creative HRBPs as they build successful relationships between multiple partners and deliver value across the entire company. If you're a great fit, you will be responsible for identifying business needs and working with the regional Centers of Excellence to deliver high quality solutions to internal customers.

 

You will serve as an HR Partner at our Chicago headquarters. While you will have a large team around you, you will be the point person for hundreds of employees, managers, and business leaders, on a variety of HR items like investigating issues, providing HR policy guidance and interpretation, supporting hiring and onboarding programs, helping managers become better coaches, provide career development, build morale and do the myriad of things that can support productivity across the board.

 

Core responsibilities include:

  • Be a strategic partner to multiple business and functional leaders, establishing HR business objectives that align with the overall company plans and objectives

  • Partner with the HR organization in delivering key employee processes including performance and compensation planning

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention

  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation on everything from business unit restructures, workforce planning to organizational planning

  • Coach management on performance management discussions, employee relations issues, discipline matters, and promotion / transfer / termination discussions

  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop proactive solutions, programs and policies

  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations as needed.  

  • Conduct regular and frequent meetings with respective business units

  • Stay up-to-date on legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance

  • Identify training needs for business units and individual coaching needs

  • Facilitate training programs locally

  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs

  • Provide compensation and benefits support, teaming with our global compensation team and collaborate in the creation of Sales Incentive Plans

  • Collaborate with the various HR Centers of Excellence like inclusion & diversity, comp, talent development, and HRIS

Qualifications:

  • You will need a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field

  • 2- 5 years of HR experience with a minimum of 2 years as an HRBP or Generalist.  Exposure to experience with compensation practices, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, recruiting and performance management required. It would be advantageous if that experience occurred in a larger, tech company with a global matrixed organization.

  • Experience presenting to a large number of employees, and delivering feedback to all levels of employees needed.  Doing so with senior leadership a plus.

  • Experience implementing HR strategy that supports company objectives

  • Experience utilizing Workday as the system of record for HRIS a strong plus

  • Experience delivering and facilitating training programs

  • Knowledge of US employment law
