Human Resources Business Partner

| Chicago

At Groupon, we spend our days developing tools that help small businesses thrive in their local communities. We’re a technology company building products that positively impact the lives of the 48MM people and 100,000 merchants that use them every single day. With thousands of employees across 16 countries, we operate at a global scale but still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking, and celebrates successes.

Are you ready to take on an HR challenge to grow and develop Groupon’s biggest asset - our people?

Human Resource Business Partners at Groupon aren’t just doing the transactional elements of HR, they’re highly integrated in their designated business group and partner closely with leaders to help craft programs and policies. As a young yet evolving company, we’ve grown a robust HR department with dedicated resources for each business unit, along with Centers of Excellence for each of our HR functions. However, because we’re only 9 years old, there are still plenty of ways employees can impact, change, or improve how their department works. We want you to join our nimble, impactful, and creative HRBPs as they build successful relationships between multiple partners and deliver value across the entire company. If you're a great fit, you will be responsible for identifying business needs and working with the regional Centers of Excellence to deliver high quality solutions to internal customers.

Other core responsibilities include:

  • Be a strategic partner to multiple business and functional leaders, establishing HR business objectives that align with the overall company plans and objectives

  • Partner with the HR organization in delivering key employee processes including performance and compensation planning

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention

  • Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations as needed.

  • Conduct regular and frequent meetings with respective business units

  • Stay up-to-date on legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance

  • Identify training needs for business units and individual coaching needs

  • Facilitate training programs locally

  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs

  • Provide compensation and benefits support, teaming with our global compensation team and collaborate in the creation of Sales Incentive Plans

  • Collaborate with the various HR Centers of Excellence like inclusion & diversity, comp, talent development, and HRIS

An Insider's view of Groupon

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

Groupon provides an environment where I can strive for maximum work-life effectiveness, room for growth, and there is always something new to do. I enjoy spending lots of time at work because I love what I do; the hours are not burdensome, Groupon fits me. I define success in my own terms & Groupon provides us with the flexibility to be successful.

Milan

Senior Manager of Operations

What kinds of technical challenges do you and your team face?

We are working on arriving at the optimal attribution models across different areas of our business. For example, the attribution of a purchase to a specific experience — a home page feature, an email, a push notification — likely has a different window of time where we can reasonably say a specific purchase is a result of a specific experience.

Kristi

Data Scientist

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

Here at Groupon, what you do matters. I got my start at Groupon as an intern and have had the opportunity in the past (almost) 5 years to build out a global volunteer program that has engaged over 5,000 employees in over 63,000 hours of service supporting the work of close to 650 nonprofit organizations.

Alicia

Program Manager, Employee & Community Engagement

What projects are you most excited about?

Recently, we committed to having 100% of our job descriptions reviewed for gender balance by the end of 2018. Also for 2018, work will continue with our Employee Resource Groups, who play a pivotal part in the attraction and selection of diverse top talent, and themselves can be developed and promoted into company leaders.
