You will partner with the business to support the growth and change that we see every single day at Groupon. We work in various Centers of Excellence across the globe and collaborate together to build from scratch and provide guidance to our partners around the organization. As a young yet evolving company, we’ve grown a robust HR department with dedicated resources for each line of business; yet there are still plenty of ways to impact, change, or improve how our team works.
As HR Business Partners on the HR team, we aren’t just doing the transactional elements of HR, we’re highly integrated into business groups and partner closely with leaders to help craft programs and policies. Our team is nimble, impactful, and creative, and we focus on building successful relationships and delivering value across the entire company. Regardless of the group we support, our goal is to identify business needs and working with the regional COEs to deliver high-quality solutions to our internal clients.
In this role, you will support the Sales organization in our Chicago office. You will handle internal investigations, provide HR policy guidance, support hiring and onboarding programs, help managers become better coaches, provide career development, build morale and do the myriad of things that can support productivity across the board.
You’ll spend time on the following:
You will act as a strategic partner to multiple business and functional leaders, establishing strategic objectives that align with the overall company and organizational plans
You will build a partnership with other members of HR in delivering key employee processes, including performance and compensation planning as well as work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and drive productivity and retention
You will provide policy guidance and interpretation on everything from business unit restructures to workforce and organizational planning
You will coach management on performance management discussions, labor relations issues, discipline matters, and promotion/transfer/termination discussions
You will analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies
Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations
Stay up-to-date on legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance
Identify training needs for business units and individual coaching needs
Facilitate training programs locally, as necessary
Collaborate with the various HR teams like Compensation, Talent, and HRIS
We’re excited about you if you have:
Bachelor's degree
3-5 years experience with compensation practices, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, recruiting and performance management
Experience in a larger technology company with a global matrixed organization preferred
You have presented to a large number of employees, and delivering feedback to senior leadership
You know how to implement HR strategy that supports company objectives
You're adaptable and can think on your feet; when faced with new challenges or tough conversations, you face them head-on
You're a self-starter, and not afraid to fail
You have a high level of discretion and maturity
You have experience building rapport with internal clients and have strong interpersonal skills, directly and indirectly influencing and diffusing high-tension situations with ease
You have knowledge of US employment law
Workday experience a plus
