We are looking for a senior level people partner with deep domain knowledge and expertise in employee relations. This role will be a hybrid, a business partner and leader for our operations teams (care, logistics, and employee drivers) and our people solutions leader overseeing the employee relations center of excellence at Grubhub. This person will be responsible for partnering with the business on all people related initiatives and programs, while ensuring that we drive a progressive, diverse, and inclusive culture in our operations organizations. They also will have people oversight for two people managers (HR Managers) in the operations group.
Some Challenges You’ll Tackle

Provide advice and counsel to HR Business Partners and business leaders on all employee relations at Grubhub. They will ensure optimal decisions are made through influencing, coaching, and providing subject matter expertise. | 10% |
Design, create and implement programs that improve proactive Employee Relations processes and practices that contribute to a healthy and productive working environment. | 20% |
Conduct investigations into Code of Conduct violations and assist in performance coaching conversations. This includes ensuring that all ER issues and concerns are handled fairly, consistently, transparently, in a timely fashion, and in line with Grubhub’s values, policies, and appropriate local laws. | 15% |
Partner with senior and c-level leaders in operations (care and logistics) to drive and support their strategic talent agenda in compliance with Grubhub policies, programs and local law | 20% |
Translate the business strategy into high impact people programs and initiatives that drive the business forward while creating a positive and inclusive culture | 20% |
Oversee the day to day direction and management of small people partner team | 10% |
Participate in cross functional people partner initiatives and projects across the people team function | 5% |
You Should Have
Minimum Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree | Required Concentration: Psychology, HR, Sociology |
Preferred Education Level: Master Level | Preferred Concentration: ER/Labor |
- 10+ years of hr partnership or hr generalist experience
- 3 years directly managing complex employee relations issues and advising executive-level corporate clients regarding employment practice; call center employee relation experience a plus
- 3+ years leadership and management of others
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiation and conflict management skills
- Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional partners in Legal, People Operations, employees and managers in a matrixed organization to resolve issues and grievances
- Proven ability to be a coach, counselor, advisor and partner with stakeholders at varying levels of seniority
- Solid understanding of Federal, State, and local labor and employment laws and knowledge in technology busineses including a familiarity with HR practices and policies
- Must be highly comfortable with ambiguity and constant change, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work under pressure and deal with complex issues, while maintaining composure
- Experienced decision maker who uses good reasoning and sound judgment required
- Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality is required
- Detail-oriented, with the demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, interpret and make recommendations on data related to employee relations investigations
