Information Security Engineer
We are adding another member to our security team at either our Deerfield or Chicago Loop location to further extend and protect an already highly secure environment. As an Information Security Engineer at Vail, you'll review security alerts, analyze security threats, find vulnerabilities, and offer solutions. You will also participate in projects requiring full security assessments, including reports on findings and proposals for improvement. You are not yet expected to be an expert in security, but you do need to have developed an intermediate level of experience in system and/or network administration, have hands-on experience, and know how to configure Linux systems from the ground up with a strong security posture. You will be working alongside a group of professionals with extensive backgrounds in security, networking, systems administration, and software development to design and deliver solutions to complex technical problems, so it is a great opportunity to develop expertise in security and compliance.
What you can expect to be doing:
- Participate in annual risk assessments and security audits
- Contribute to the internal security awareness training program
- Defend systems and data against unauthorized access, modification and/or destruction
- Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and respond to security events
- Investigate security incidents and violations
- Conduct penetration testing and vulnerability scans
- Supervise the vulnerability management program
- Configure and support security systems and tools such as IDS, log correlation engines, scripts
- Maintain the system configuration standard for servers and firewalls and perform configuration audits
- Participate in the development of the security program
To be considered for this position you must have:
- 4+ overall experience with systems and network administration
- 2+ years of systems administration experience with security support
- Security knowledge of the Windows and Linux platforms, and network security fundamentals
- Strong communication skills
- Professional attitude
- Detail oriented
- Hands-on experience with IDS/IPS, and understanding of data payloads
- Knowledge of OWASP testing guides is preferred
- Experience with vulnerability scanners and penetration tools such as nmap, Nessus, Rapid7, Burp Suite, OWASP Zap, SqlMapper, Metasploit
- Solid understanding of finding and exploiting vulnerabilities
- Scripting knowledge with Bash, Perl or Python
- Ability to solve problems quickly
- B.A. / B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field is preferred
