Discover's General Business MBA Internship Program offers exciting 8-12 week paid internship opportunities for highly motivated individuals who are interested in exploring a host of disciplines within Discover. Participants will work on challenging initiatives in a sought after work environment and culture. Individuals selected will be matched to projects across the enterprise, in the many different business areas/disciplines within Discover business units, including Consumer Banking, Corporate Risk Management, Credit Operations, Payments Network, and US Cards. They will be challenged to exercise and expand their critical thinking and problem solving skills, working alongside proven leaders on projects and strategic initiatives aligned with Discover's high-priority goals.  

Participants can expect:  

  • Strategic and impactful project assignments that support the company's key objectives and priorities

  • Exposure to managers and leaders with excellence in business acumen

Opportunities may exist in variety of different areas enterprise-wide including:  

  • Acquisition – strategy and operations for all product lines (card, deposits, loans)  

  • Business Analytics  

  • Business Development  

  • Corporate & Business Risk and Compliance  

  • Collections Strategy, Customer Experience and Operations 

  • Consumer Insights & Market Research  

  • Customer Engagement – Strategy & Operations  

  • Marketing – Strategy, Digital Communications & Customer Experience 

  • Operational Effectiveness & Process Improvement 

  • Payments - Technology, Products & Strategy 

  • Product Owner, Product Management & Product Strategy 

 

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Must have minimum 3 years full-time work experience 

  • Current enrollment in an accredited MBA College or University program 

  • Must have a graduation date between December 2022 - June 2023 

  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate ideas into clear priorities 

  • High energy and intellectual curiosity 

  • Strong analytical skills and a consultative approach to addressing customer needs 

  • Strong business acumen, knowledge of financial industry, risk management, and business metrics  

  • Experience in SQL, SAS  

  • Proficiency in visual data management, i.e. Excel, Tableau 

  • Experience with Agile project management methodology 

  • Experience with Digital Design and Customer User Experience 

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively 

  • Ability to apply previous experience and knowledge to new situations and problems 

  • Operates as a team player
