About our trading programs:

Quantitative Trader Internship, a leisurely summer it isn’t. A stimulating, challenging, educational, rewarding, immersive and, yes, fun, summer it is. Our trader interns spend ten weeks learning trading fundamentals, trading on simulated markets and completing projects in quantitative research, data science and financial modeling. Plus, you’ll be paired with an experienced trader to gain exposure to different trading desks, experience the financial markets firsthand and get a sense of our office culture. It’s an expedited training program that’ll put you on the fast track to your career as a trader.

Full-Time Traders, we hire academically accomplished, intellectually well-rounded thinkers and we mold them into great traders. Your career here will begin with six months of comprehensive training on the fundamentals of trading: theory, markets, strategies and cutting-edge technology. From there, you’re off and trading. You and your team will adjust prices, monitor positions and make trades using custom software. In partnership with our engineers, you will continually refine and optimize your trading strategies. After all, the only constant in the market is change. What worked today may not work tomorrow. And you definitely won’t have to wait until tomorrow to see the impact of your decisions. It requires nimble, decisive thinking and bold action.

Trading at Optiver:

Optiver makes markets. Our traders make it possible. Relying on a deep knowledge of math, stats, econ and engineering, you will design, execute and improve trading strategies. In the process, you will improve the very functioning of our financial markets by providing fair and accurate pricing. And you’ll do it in all market circumstances, no matter how volatile, thereby managing risk for anxious market participants. So the fruits of your labor will be apparent every minute the markets are open.

What you’ll need:

  • Superior quantitative and logical reasoning skills
  • Interest in strategic games and/or competitive activities
  • Experience programming or scripting a plus
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment authorization for this job opening

Intern Specifics:

  • Sophomore or Junior standing for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM field

Full-Time Specifics:

  • Graduating with a BS or MS degree in a STEM field
  • Have an expected graduation date between December 2021 and June 2022 (Spring and Fall 2022 start dates available)
