What is an Actuarial Intern?

Clearcover is looking for intellectually curious, analytically focused actuarial students with a love for computer science for a summer 2020 internship opportunity! This summer internship position will take place at Clearcover’s GLOBAL (we have to start somewhere right?) headquarters at 33 W Monroe St in Chicago’s Central Loop. The start date for this position is flexible to your summer availability, up to 12 weeks. This position will support Clearcover’s Insurance Division with managing pricing and product management functions for the auto line of business.

What will you do?

• Conduct analysis on the existing auto book of business to facilitate product decision making designed to maximize customer lifetime value
• Work with business intelligence teams to build and maintain actuarial reports using SQL (we’ll teach you don’t worry)
• Helping to build the Clearcover auto product for 2020/2021 state launches
• Collaborating with Claims, Product, and Growth on cross-functional projects

What do you need?

• Current Sophomore/Junior standing, in the Actuarial Science field of study 
• Successful completion of a 100 level computer science course (we’re a tech company after all)
• Standard knowledge in the use of data sources and applications to conduct research (it’s kind of what we actuaries do!)
• Can analyze data and review analysis from others and identify and resolve basic data issues (checking the Chief Actuary’s back of the napkin math) 
• Skill proficiency in Excel: Intermediate, Google: Intermediate, SQL: beginner (we’re a Google company)
• Strong ability to communicate effectively and to challenge the status quo (Curiosity and Grit are 2 of our core values!)
• Strong decision-making skills
