The Marketing Data Science Team is looking for an exceptionally talented intern to tackle sexy, real-world, hard problems related to personalizing the marketing material we send to millions of diners. The intern will dig into our mountains of data to model diners’ responses to various treatments, and, time permitting, design experiments, run tests, and analyze results. The intern will exercise skills and knowledge of e-commerce, big data engineering, modeling, experimental design, email marketing, keyword bidding, and marketing in general. Interns will also have the opportunity to spend time with other interns, attend educational events, as well as social events.
The intern will report into the Marketing Data Science Team, a high performance and fun-loving team. This team provides the engineering and and data science foundation for all of Marketing and collaborates extensively with other organizations within the company, automating processes, building models, and promoting a data-driven culture. By working in Marketing, it is at the core of blending art and science!
Some Challenges You’ll Tackle
- Learn about the business and how it is modeled within the database
- Learn to manipulate data in big data platforms
- Learn current approaches for scoring marketing campaigns
- Create improved models and analytically prove out their effectiveness
Forward report any inferences discovered in the data
Design experiments that test the model
Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences
You Should Have
- Current student in a relevant quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics)
- Knowledge of tools of the trade: Unix, SQL, Python
Ability to model real-world events (e.g., sales) mathematically
Ability to create, train, and validate a Machine Learning model
- Ability to tell stories with data
- Ability to clearly document progress
- Ability to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
