DevOps Engineer Intern, Zoro

Primary Function:
Zoro is offering a paid internship in our DevOps team.
Joining our team is an opportunity that will enable you to gain valuable industry experience to prepare you for a DevOps/SRE/Software Engineer position after you complete your studies. The start/end dates can be flexible based upon your school schedule.
The individual chosen will learn about supporting all IT and business areas by building, maintaining, and monitoring reliable infrastructure, maturing security practices, and developing pipelines in our multi-cloud environment to deliver highly available and scalable services. A DevOps Engineer Intern becomes a part of the Zoro family and is fully embraced by the team on Day One. The intern should expect to contribute to work that matters but critical to the company’s strategic direction.
Responsibilities:
- Build automation leveraging CI/CD processes, automated testing, unit testing, code coverage, security scanning, and other software development best practices.
- Contribute to reusable automation scripts, libraries, services, and tools to increase efficiencies.
- Continually review and understand security threats, and quickly address vulnerabilities.
- Enable teams to do things correctly, quickly, consistently, and with less effort and learning.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Developing and managing pipelines utilizing Jenkins, GitLab, or any other build automation tool
- Working knowledge of GCP, AWS, or Azure with an understanding of their CLIs
- Proficient with scripting or IaC languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Groovy, Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
- Understanding of container-based development and deployment (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of monitoring tools to understand the existing application and network workloads
- Experience with source control tooling, such as TFS or GIT, in a team environment
Minimum Requirements:
- Working towards a BS or MS in OMIS, MIS, CIS, CS, or related technical field
- Have an expected graduation date in the next two years
- Knowledge of the DevOps/SRE culture, principles, and DevOps/SRE frameworks
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- A willingness to ask for help and the ability to communicate what you need to do your best work
