Human Resources & Recruiting Coordinator Intern

 

Vail Systems has an internship opportunity for students currently enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's degree programs in Human Resources, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Business Administration or related fields starting in January, 2020. We're looking for a detail-oriented student that is passionate about recruiting to help grow Vail's highly-technical, engineering employee population. Although recruiting will be the main focus of the internship, there will be plenty of opportunities to help out and get exposure to the many diverse aspects of Human Resources. This internship will primarily be based out of our office in Chicago, but occasional travel to our office in Deerfield may be required.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Assisting the lead recruiter with the administrative tasks involved in the full recruiting Lifecyle including:
    • Posting jobs and moving candidates through the recruiting workflow in our applicant tracking system (ATS) Jobvite
    • Sourcing passive candidates on various job sites like LinkedIn and Stack Overflow
    • Screening resumes in database for best-fit candidates
    • Conducting candidate outreach via phone and email (sometimes cold calling)
    • Developing relationships with colleges
    • Coordinating recruiting event logistics (career fairs, tech talks, etc.)
    • Completing onboarding paperwork for employee files ensuring legal requirements are met
    • Maintaining seating and organizational charts
  • Scheduling various interview types including:
    • Initial phone screens for the lead recruiter (eventually conduct these yourself)
    • Follow-up phone interviews for the hiring managers
    • Technical assessments using various platforms including CoderPad and Microsoft Teams
    • In-person interviews at various locations
    • Remote video interviews
    • Debriefs with interview teams to determine next steps
    • New-hire check-ins after first 45 days of employment
    • Exit interviews

    • Track and analyze salary and bonus data to determine appropriate compensation for employees and new-hires

To be considered for this position you must:

 

  • Currently be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Business Administration or another related field

 

Other qualifications include:

 

  • Excellent verbal communication, both in-person and over-the-phone
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision (follow-through skills)
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience using an applicant tracking system (Jobvite)
  • Interest in technology, software, telecommunications/telephony
