The SMS Assist Summer Internship program is a full-time, paid opportunity that will run this summer, usually a 10-week internship program that runs June through August. An internship at SMS Assist will provide an opportunity to work with a fast-paced, growing company in Chicago's vibrant technology scene.
Each intern in our summer group goes through one week of training together as a cohort and are placed in one of our departments, where they'll spend around 75% of their time throughout the summer. The other 25% is spent engaging in intern-specific activities and learning opportunities, such as executive lunch & learns, personal development workshops, and access throughout the company for informational interviews.
During the internship, the program interns will work together on an SMS Assist business case, and they will present their findings and ideas at the conclusion of the internship for SMS Assist leadership and other key team members. Of course, we have some fun social events thrown in there as well!

Job Summary - UX Architect Intern
The UX Architect Intern works closely with Product scrum teams, stakeholders and our users to craft easy-to-use digital experiences. You will have the opportunity to participate in multiple aspects of the UX lifecycle (research, concepting, iterative design, testing) to help define and create human-centered design solutions that address user needs and SMS Assist's business goals. The UX Architect Intern engages with the teams they support to facilitate discovery and validation for product initiatives, build a robust understanding of users through research and testing, ensure value through iterative improvement, and ensure successful delivery by supporting development.
The UX Architect I participates in these areas of UX discipline:

• User Research
• Usability testing
• Information Architecture
• Wireframes/Prototypes
• Content Strategy
• Participating in Ideation/Brainstorming

Responsibilities - UX Architect Intern

• Design elegant, smart, and usable designs for web and mobile applications
• Collaborate with our UX team to deliver easy-to-use experiences that empower our users and meet stakeholder expectations
• Participate in the human-centered design process through rapid testing and iteration of concepts to deliver value
• Participate in design thinking methodologies to empathize, brainstorm, learn, ideate, challenge stakeholders and UX peers, and iterate
• Participate in Agile process to deliver design artifacts in a timely and effective manner
• Participate in gathering design requirements and user research focused on understanding motivations and inform product priorities
• Work with team members across time zones
• Ensure confidentiality of internal and external data

Qualifications - UX Architect Intern
Minimum Qualifications

• Human-Centered Design training
• Experience creating wireframes and prototypes
• Experience facilitating user research
• Experience facilitating usability testing
