MACHINE LEARNING ENGINEER INTERN (paid internship)

Job Summary

A Machine Learning Engineer Intern at Infutor helps the data engineering team realize its mission through various on-going and one-time projects. These projects have a significant impact on our business functions, both large and small in scale.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• The deployment, optimization, and maintenance of data science models.
• Creation of data pipelines, maintenance of infrastructure, and implementation of custom code. 
• Creation of new and maintenance of existing data acquisition processes from inception to fully developed solutions.
• At Infutor, machine learning engineers work in an Agile environment, so they need to fully understand and follow the principles stated in the Agile Manifesto (http://agilemanifesto.org/principles.html).
• Depending on the project, works on self-organized teams or by themselves.

Qualifications and Skills

In order to be successful in this role, a person should be willing to learn and become a subject matter expert in the near future. The intern should be self-motivated, have a can do attitude, and be intellectually curious. Additionally, we seek the following skills and attributes--

Required:

• Be actively pursuing a college degree in computer science, predictive analytics, or similar.
• Graduate-level knowledge of statistics and statistical analysis.
• Be able to write, design, code, test, implement, and debug programs.
• Manage data sources, organize data, and create data assets using a variety of tools like Python, Scala, R, Javascript, Hadoop, SQL, and, Amazon Web Services.
• Familiar with Agile principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 3-4 month commitment.
• Ability to work 20 -40 hours/week during the summer break.

Desirable:

• Knowledge or experience in software design and development.
• Patterns knowledge.
• Unit Test knowledge.
• Familiar with G Suite for business use.
• Previous internship experience or experience working in an office environment.

Big plus:

• Amazon web services knowledge
• Knowledge of Scala programming language
• Coursework in Hadoop theory and applications.
• Ability to maintain part-time employment or work full-time over the summer break.
