As the marketing design intern, you’ll work closely with the creative director and the marketing team to produce all brand communications, ranging from icons, illustrations, animations, websites, collateral & sales materials, to exhibition graphics, booklets, and swag. As a fairly young startup, with new products being brought to market, our job in the marketing department is to effectively communicate our value to our potential customers in a consistent, meaningful way–to build a positive brand perception–and ultimately sell our platform.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist design team across a wide variety of projects
  • Edit and update existing materials
  • Concept, design and produce new materials
  • Work with vendors to produce materials when necessary

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Adobe CS (InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop are a must, After Effects, XD –or similar prototyping software–are nice to have.)
  • Motion graphics and front-end abilities are a ++
  • Self-starter and motivated
  • Curious learner
  • Good typographic and compositional skills
  • Good communication skills + ability to articulate design’s value are key

The ideal candidate in this startup environment is someone who can thrive in ambiguous situations and can help define the problem as well as devise a solution. Someone who is a self-starter and can function fairly independently. Someone with a positive attitude and who sees each design challenge as an opportunity to make interesting and great work will do well here.

Benefits

This role will be a paid internship ($15/hr) and will be approximately 2-3 days a week (about 16-24 hours a week on-site). This internship can also be considered a mentorship, with the intern working closely with the Creative Director (a seasoned, award-winning design veteran with 15 years of art, design, industry, and teaching experience) to develop, refine and expand on the intern’s creative and analytical abilities. Interns will leave this role with a true understanding of what it takes to be successful in a startup (from a design perspective), and will be able to articulate the value of design in this environment.
