Overview

Tribune Interactive-Studio 1847 is looking for an Intern designated to assist the Sr. Programmer and Manager of Programming. This is a unique opportunity to enhance your professional portfolio. The intern will be involved in every aspect of programming for our signature events, our festival Printers Row Lit Fest, our speaker series Unscripted and our Health and Wellness series Thrive.  The position will include interacting with talent, authors, talent agents, publicists, publishers, moderators, and various departments at Tribune Interactive-Studio 1847 including Chicago Tribune’s Editorial department. They will work with all key stakeholders involved in programming our events.

We're looking for an Intern with an energetic can-do attitude, and an interest in learning about Events.

 

The intern is expected to be available to work from the end of April- through June 29, 2018.

 

Hourly rate:  $11

 

This is a paid internship. You must be in enrolled in college.

 

Programming Intern Responsibilities

Attend programming meetings and team meetings
Assist in managing database.  The database includes but not limited to information pertaining to the following:

  • Talent
  • Publicists
  • Moderators
  • Book sales
  • Production
  • Stage set up/tech needs
  • Scheduling information

Prepare and organize talent/book documents for program development.
Send talent confirmation emails and follow up regularly when materials have not been returned
Assist in inputting scheduling information into database
Organize books so they are readily available to distribute to moderators
Prepare moderator letters with talent/publicist contact information and guidelines for leading a panel.
Research flights and book travel/hotel and ground transportation for high profile talent
Prepare talent itineraries for various publishers, publicist and booking agents and the company hired to handle ground transportation
Assist in preparing logistical letters
Assist in preparing scripts/program documents for volunteers, venue mangers and booksellers
Assist in preparing binders for volunteers and venue managers
Assist in proofing signage and marketing materials
Assist in managing talent escorts
Assist in general administrative duties

 

Requirements:

Background in marketing, communication, events or related discipline
Excellent writing, research and interpersonal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office and internet savvy.
Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments.
Attention to detail and accountability.
Creative and flexible.
Familiarity with social networking sites desired
Interest in event programming and marketing
Interest in/knowledge of the book industry a plus.
