Groupon is looking for the next wave of great software development engineering interns in test. We work in small, independent and agile teams, and collaborate with product designers to implement stuff quickly. As part of our technology team, you’ll use a variety of technologies and development practices to build pioneering local commerce applications used by hundreds of millions of people.

What You’ll Be Doing

There are not a lot of boundaries here, so expect to make a big impact. The code you check in will help in ensuring our customers and merchants are receiving the best experience possible. So we need people that will take pride in the quality of their code and take it personally when there’s a bug that  has slowed the site down.

Interns will have the opportunities to build tooling that enables our product and development counterparts to build web applications in Ruby on Rails, mobile applications for iPhone, iPad and Android, hard-core deal targeting and personalization algorithms & massively scalable server architectures using Hadoop. If you join us, you will be responsible for working with the team to design user interactions that are simple, intuitive and implemented correctly, building complex algorithms and architecting code for massive scale.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a BS, MS or PhD program in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field

• Knowledge of TCP/IP and network programming

• Not afraid to jump into all levels of the technology stack

• Ruby on Rails or dynamic language experience a plus

• Open source experience a plus
