Summer 2021 – Software Engineer Internship

 

What to expect:

As a closerlook Software Engineer Intern, you will collaborate with cross-functional members of the closerlook team to create functioning web and mobile applications based on acceptance criteria, coding standards, user interface guidelines and graphic designs. You’ll get to experience what life is like as a full-time software engineer and learn coding skills that will last long after your internship ends. In addition, you will take advantage of the various learning and development programs and support systems that closerlook offers. This includes 1:1 mentorship, learning and development sessions and opportunities to create community. We’ve designed our internship program to expose underrepresented individuals into the world of biopharma and create opportunity to become ambassadors for diversity, equity and inclusion throughout your careers.

Program Details:

  • Start Date: June 2021
  • End Date: August 2021
  • Schedule: Full-time (Monday – Friday, 8:30AM-5:30PM CST)
  • Pay: Hourly

 

Responsibilities:

  • Build, enhance and support software applications for both web and mobile devices
  • Collaborate cross-competency on policy, processes or tools to increase overall efficiency and quality

 

Requirements:

  • A passion for technology is a must
  • Knowledge of one or more of these programming language: Python, C#, PHP, or Node.Js
  • Strong documentation and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Ability to identify and provide supporting documentation of procedures and requirements
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment or independently
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to convey concepts and solutions to non-technical team members.
  • Ability to complete a 12-week internship program
  • Available to work at least 40 hours per week for the duration of the program

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with fully responsive websites and grid systems
  • Familiarity with building and consuming RESTful web services using WCF or ASP.NET WEB API
  • Familiarity with building iOS or Android mobile applications

Funny you should ask, as I am one of the super-secret members of our super-secret MIRTH committee. Basically, we are fun planners. Let’s see, dip/chili/baking contests, random pancake breakfasts, team potlucks, beach day in the middle of winter, and one time we had a hobby horse competition. Oh, and who can forget beer o’clock every Friday?!

What projects are you most excited about?

We are putting a heavy focus on creating progressive web apps since a majority of our end users are mobile users. It allows regular webpages to behave like a native app on a mobile device to make the experience as seamless as possible. We are also focusing on tools for sales reps so they are able to quickly yet effectively engage HCPs.
