Department OverviewThe Chief Technology Office is the innovation engine for Motorola Solutions. We are user-focused and outcome-driven, identifying problems and creating solutions based on research and engagement with our customers.
The CTO’s cross-functional Innovation Design team consists of Industrial Design, UI/UX, Design Research, and Human Factors practitioners who design for diverse and challenging markets. Each of these core capabilities contributes within a user-centered design process to leverage our advanced wireless communications, cloud & mobile applications, video, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to envision a new generation of life-changing – and life-saving – products, applications and services.

Work Description
This User Research internship offers you the opportunity to work with a small, highly collaborative team leveraging user research tools and techniques to envision and evaluate innovative design solutions. You should already have a basic foundation in qualitative and quantitative research methods and should be comfortable interviewing and observing users across a range of roles and environmental conditions. You will participate in a community of researchers and designers tasked with overcoming complicated user challenges, transforming them into meaningful and critical experiences.
Scope of responsibilities:
- Contribute to a variety of exploratory and evaluative user research projects that help define and support products, applications and services.
- Communicate research insights to team members in an effective and measurable fashion.
Basic Requirements
- Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Human Computer Interaction, Experience Design, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors or related discipline, with a graduation date on or after December 2021.
- Prior coursework in user research methods, interaction design or experience design.
