Job Description:
Discover will not sponsor or transfer employment work visas for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Responsible for developing and implementing risk models as well as portfolio analyses using advanced data extraction and mining knowledge and tools.
Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities
- Work with team members and collaborate with business partners to design, develop, implement and monitor risk models to meet business requirements.
- Lead projects and provide guidance to junior team members in modeling and analytics projects.
- Communicate the model results to business partners and aid in achieving the best utilization of models.
- Provide innovative and new ideas to enhance model prediction power by evaluating new data sources, identifying new variables and adopting new modeling techniques.
- Maintain a high level of understanding of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools and advanced techniques, including knowledge in UNIX, programming skills in SAS / SQL and any other statistical software.
- Act as a liaison with business partners in intra-departmental projects and present findings to senior management and business partners.
- Establish and maintain a thorough understanding of the analytical data sources available for risk modeling. Examples include credit bureau data, portfolio information, transactions and payments data.
- Proactively identify trends or developments that may impact business plans and performance, or which may present opportunities. Keeping functional areas and management abreast of such findings.
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here's what we need from you:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Finance, Math, Business, Engineering, Economics or related
- 4+ years of experience in analytics in the financial services industry
- In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of experience in analytics in the financial services industry
Preferred Qualifications
If we had our say, we'd also look for:
- Master's Degree in Information Technology, Finance, Math, Business, Engineering, Economics or related
- 6+ years of experience in the financial services industry
- Experience with SAS or SQL

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $75,500.00 to $127,900.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
