Associate Corporate Counsel
Sprout Social is looking for a dynamic and collaborative attorney to join our small but mighty Legal team. As Associate Corporate Counsel, you will be responsible for supporting the U.S. and international sales teams, including running customer negotiations and renewals, as well as providing day-to-day support on legal issues facing a high growth stage company. In this role you will be presented with new challenges and growth opportunities every day.

You have the ability to issue spot, think critically and learn on the fly. You are committed to providing excellent client service and adept at handling multiple priorities at any given time. You also hunt for efficiencies so that your life and the lives of others are constantly made easier. This person will work closely with and report to Sprout Social’s Senior Corporate Counsel.
Qualifications
These are the minimum qualifications that our hiring team is looking for in this role:
- A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
- 1-2 years of experience in an in-house legal department or law firm
Additionally, these are the preferred qualifications that would indicate a particularly strong candidate:
- Previous experience with technology terms and contracts at a software company or law firm
- Exposure to risk-based assessments in previous work experience
Within 1 month, you will…
- Complete Sprout Social’s new hire training & onboarding program alongside other new Sprout team members. You’ll gain a broader understanding of our products and how your role fits into the organization.
- Partner with our Senior Corporate Counsel to define priorities, best practices, and key success metrics for your role.
- Connect and engage with Sales team members across the organization to discuss and learn about their needs.
- Learn about the processes and procedures to take customer contracts to closing.
- Assist in the review of vendor agreements, and gain familiarity with data processing addendums for both customers and vendors.
- Begin to review existing form documents and gain familiarity with the ecosystem of our contracts.
- Develop an understanding of the risks facing our business.
Within 3 months, you will...
- Begin to use and help further develop our sales contract playbook to negotiate customer contracts from start to finish.
- Field requests from the Sales team with respect to updates on order forms and agreements.
- Support the Sales team in reviewing non-disclosure agreements and requests for proposal submissions.
- Assist Senior Corporate Counsel in the continuing development and maintenance of the sales contract playbook and legal operations processes.
Within 6 months, you will…
- Review customer contracts and run your own negotiations with customers.
- Review and negotiate vendor agreements.
- Complete renewals with our Success and Growth team for existing customers.
- Assist in compliance efforts related to applicable domestic and international regulations.
- Work through updating trainings and materials for the Sales team pertinent to the legal review process.
- Make updates to existing agreement templates and terms.
- Help the Legal team identify areas for streamlining and improvement.
Within 12 months, you will...
- Be seen as an integral part of the sales process for legal review of both customer and vendor contracts and an effective resource for day-to-day legal issues.
