What is a Claims Legal Manager
The Claims Legal Manager has a unique opportunity to help construct a team to better serve Clearcover customers from the ground up. The role will coordinate all litigation activities for the organization. Our Claims Managers are empathetic, patient people who love connecting with and helping our team serve customers. What will you do?

  • Manages all claims litigation activities with established claims policies and procedures
  • Liaison to Clearcover’s Legal Team and external defense counsel
  • Build relationships with our legal partners
  • Work with Legal Department on claims resolution strategies
  • Develop and enforce legal billing guidelines with defense partners
  • Coordinate team introduction to defense counsel for new state launches
  • Subject matter expert on regulatory environment, auto estimating, bodily injury evaluation, internal tools, regulatory compliance, and claims payment processing
  • Identify and assess internal trends for efficiency gains and process improvement
  • Assist in the selection, evaluation, compensation, transfer, and termination of claims personnel, in accordance with established personnel policies and practices
  • Participate in evaluating, monitoring, and negotiating claims partner relationships from a contract perspective
  • Maintain knowledge base of training materials, standard procedures, and shared partner guidelines
  • Support Clearcover quality assurance initiatives
  • Provide in-depth reporting on claims metrics and communicate results to executive leadership
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an adjuster’s license as required
  • Develop individual performance SLAs and drive commitment to and maintenance of outstanding performance
  • Log and assign responses due on Department of Insurance Complaints related to litigated or SIU claims files;
  • Responsible for setting up regular Q&A claims seminars in our existing states with Defense Counsel and claims staff;
  • Prepare SIU files that need to be assigned to Defense Counsel for handling of EUO and/or other legal support work on pending SIU claims files, including tracking of open SIU claims files that are with defense counsel; and
  • Prepare Subrogation files that need to be assigned to Subrogation Counsel for handling, including tracking of open subrogation files for reporting purposes
  • Point person for receipt of claims legal defense bills to be provided to and reviewed by head of Claims Legal Department / Senior Counsel

What do you need? 

  • Bachelor's Degree, or commensurate work experience
  • Juris Doctorate or MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 5 + years claims and/or claims litigation adjusting or supervisory experience for a Property & Casualty Insurer or TPA (Third Party Administrator)
  • Proven claims support/success experience or experience as a claims representative or supervisor and track record of providing excellent customer care
  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of individuals
  • Experience with claims related technology for national claims program
  • Balance the needs of the customer with the needs of the business
  • Capable of writing with impact
  • Ability to manage performance and motivate other team members
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills 
  • Influence decisions cross-functionally and among executive leadership
