The Opportunity

We’re looking for a smart self-starter who’s eager to help us tackle stimulating legal issues within the complex health-tech realm. This is a broad-based role that will enable you to contribute on a variety of operational activities, managing the intersection of legal requirements and internal business processes or objectives.

This role, based out of our Chicago office, will require you to leverage your legal expertise and verbal skills to customize legal contract language, proactively anticipating technology, customer and employee issues. Our end goal is to advance the Livongo vision with our clients and members, establishing rapport and achieving results, while guarding the company against legal risks. You’ll be on the front lines, helping us achieve Livongo's mission to empower people with chronic diseases to live better and healthier lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to the Legal team for all corporate legal matters
  • Assist with drafting agreements for clients, partners, vendors, etc.
  • Prepare and review legal documents including employee contracts, confidentiality agreements, procurement agreements, etc.  
  • Research legal topics such as healthcare regulations, employment, licensing, taxes, and corporate transactions
  • Organize, analyze and validate information from internal and external sources
  • Interpret and summarize legal/regulatory requirements, reports and/or filings
  • Prepare reports and presentations for the General Counsel and other members of Livongo’s Senior Leadership Team
  • Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents and applications
  • Contribute information that helps determine Livongo’s position on legal issues
  • Anticipate and guard Livongo against legal risks
  • Ensure Livongo’s compliance with rules and regulations
  • Manage and/or contribute to special projects

Candidate Profile:

  • A Bachelors or Associates degree
  • 2+ years’ experience as a contract administrator or paralegal
  • Thorough knowledge of legal terminology, principles and practices
  • Superb communications skills, especially with written materials
  • Excellent organizational skills, with keen attention to detail, accuracy and accountability
  • Strong legal research techniques
  • Critical-thinking skills
  • Strong adherence to confidentiality
  • A resourceful, energetic, teamwork-oriented approach to projects
  • Energy and passion for delivering results in a fast-paced, metric-driven environment
  • A willingness to jump in and undertake all levels of legal work
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Impress us even more:

  • Legal experience in a technology or startup environment
  • Proven understanding of (or willingness to learn) healthcare regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA, Stark, and Anti-Kickback regulations
  • Experience implementing and maintaining a contracts management solution
