Legal Assistant
About The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented, highly motivated and proactive Legal Assistant to work with our legal team in our New York or Chicago office. The successful candidate will support our Assistant General Counsel. A positive attitude, flawless execution and an enthusiasm for making a difference are key desirable attributes.
The Impact You Will Make
- Process and respond to subpoenas, government inquiries and other related requests
- Structure and organize the activities and calendars of the legal team to facilitate the efficient
operation of the department, and arrange travel, business meetings and attendance at
conferences and other related events and activities (including submission of related expense
reports). - Monitor trademark watch list and prepare cease and desist letters
- Assist with stock administration
- Assist with management of company litigation docket
- Answer telephones, responsible for executives’ calendars and all travel arrangements., ensuring that all outside individuals are entered into the visitor registration system, booking conference rooms and clearing conflicts when they occur.
- Prepare and maintain summaries and repositories of contracts and related legal documents
- Draft, summarize and/or proof general correspondence
- Handle confidential and non-routine information with absolute discretion
- Process incoming and outgoing legal mail and packages
What You Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree required
- At least 2 years of experience in an office/legal environment, preferably within a corporate in-house legal department
- Proficient in MS Office and excel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and a positive attitude are a must
- The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and meet deadlines (i.e. taking the initiative to solve a problem)
- Strong client focus, excellent listening skills and attention to detail
- Ability to be flexible and open-minded
- Ability to work effectively with people at all levels
- A team oriented, self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities and handle multiple tasks with frequent, tight deadlines
