Nature’s Fynd is a groundbreaking food tech company born out of NASA-supported research on extremophiles in the geothermal pools of Yellowstone National Park. Our novel fermentation technology produces a sustainable source of complete protein using only a fraction of the resources required by traditional agriculture. As the challenge to feed the world’s expanding population grows, our mission is to create amazing foods and materials that provide sustainable choices and nurture the planet.

We’re looking for passionate, driven, and ambitious people to join our fast-growing team.

The Legal Operations Manager will play a critical role in helping to support our legal, finance, regulatory, intellectual property and procurement teams all in a fast-paced, get-it-done environment. The Legal Operations Manager will handle bread-and-butter legal administrative work, including contracts, equity and intellectual property management, records retention, and other support responsibilities traditionally associated with a paralegal role. This highly visible role will develop and cultivate relationships with senior leadership and requires a high level of autonomy, creativity and attention-to-detail. Each day will look surprisingly different from the day before, but the consistent theme will be driving impact across the company. The role is based in Chicago, with a target start date of April 2022.

What You will Do:

  • Provide administrative support to the Legal team, including managing contract approval workflow, contract filing and document management
  • Assist with all stages of corporate formations or organization, due diligence and the preparation for and closing of various corporate transactions
  • Interact professionally with internal and external entities, including government agencies, corporations and law firms to gather information or data
  • Organize, develop and maintain departmental informational databases, corporate records and legal files
  • Stay abreast of best practices in legal operations for food tech companies; scope and execute as appropriate
  • Conduct initial analysis of redlined agreements for Legal team’s review
  • Become the expert in understanding the company’s data flows and systems as relevant to the Legal team’s work
  • Manage ESG reporting efforts
  • Assist with HR documentation, including immigration support and compliance matters
  • Provide support to the intellectual property and regulatory teams as needed

We’re Looking for Someone With:

  • Experience in, and a passion for, developing and implementing successful and scalable processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • 5+ years of experience in a legal support function
  • A Bachelor's degree

Your profile:

  • Highly Analytical and a Bias for Action: you can quickly drive to insights, finding scrappy ways to solve complex problems, while maintaining attention to detail and organization
  • Project Management and Execution: you can own dynamic, cross-functional work plans, finding the necessary resources to deliver on key milestones
  • Influencing and Relationship Building: you have a knack for influencing and partnering across departments, levels, and with external partners
  • Strategic Thinking and Intellectual Rigor: you can balance thorough analysis with high-level strategic thinking to focus on what matters most
  • Growth Mindset: you enjoy the process of getting better at what you do, and systematically seek out feedback to improve
  • Thrive Under Autonomy: you excel in environments with high levels of individual ownership and decision-making
  • Comfort with Ambiguity: you are comfortable with taking nebulous concepts with limited direction and translating them into concrete insights and actions
  • Humility and Emotional Agility: you are ready to make a difference quickly, embrace our unique culture, and build credibility across the organization
  • Kind, Optimistic, and Fun: you enjoy collaborating on challenging problems and investing in the success of those around you
