The Pangea Regulatory team ensures our business meets all current legal and regulatory requirements. This team balances legal and regulatory requirements with the needs of our users. We are looking for a driven Regulatory Affairs Associate who is starting their career and would like to get impactful, hands-on, experience at an innovative fin-tech company.
Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, you will play a key role in working on state, federal, and international regulatory matters, with a focus on state-level money transmitter license (MTL) filings. You will work closely with our business, legal, and compliance teams to develop procedures while managing Pangea’s legal and regulatory risk areas.
YOU WILL:
- Handle daily regulatory tasks on a wide variety of matters, including periodic filings, routine inquiries, exam preparation, and investigations
- Perform annual renewals and assemble new license applications for money transmission and other licenses
- Ensure requirements of various regulators overseeing the money services business (MSB) space are met, such as: FinCEN, myriad state-level financial MTL regulators, and foreign financial regulators in Latin America and Asia
- Advise on state money transmitter requirements, BSA/AML compliance, consumer protection laws, and other regulations impacting the company
- Assist with investigation and responses to consumer complaints
- Work on cross-functional teams to escalate and resolve regulatory questions related to product development or launches
- Respond to due diligence requests from third parties and perform due diligence on third parties when needed
- Collaborate with the Compliance team to develop and improve the regulatory framework, including applicable processes, policies, and procedures
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic record; law degree highly preferred
- 3-5 years of regulatory experience, preferably within a relevant industry such as fin-tech, banking, payments, blockchain, or financial services
- Sound and practical business and risk management judgment
- Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
- Desire and ability to perform under tight deadlines
- Entrepreneurial ability and drive to achieve goals without being confined to normal business hours
