The Role

The Retail Regulatory Compliance Manager will be the knowledge expert for cannabis compliance regulations related to retail operations and be responsible for ensuring these regulations are followed in states where GTI operates dispensaries and in expansion markets as the company grows.  This individual will supervise one direct report and work closely with retail field managers/directors to oversee compliance with all aspects of cannabis regulations and will report to the Director of Regulatory Compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the letter and spirit of the cannabis rules and regulations and be able to apply and effectively communicate them to the retail team
  • Under direction of the Director of Regulatory Compliance, provide regulatory guidance to retail dispensaries related to regulatory updates and changes, operations and procedures, and new processes
  • Maintain regular dialog with retail field managers/directors and provide updates to upper management/VPs
  • Supervise and manage Retail Regulatory Compliance Specialist
  • Work with new store opening team to ensure all regulatory compliance requirements are in place to pass inspection by the cannabis regulatory agency for retail operations
  • Work with retail team on regular review of operations plans and SOPs, and submit updated plans and SOP changes to the regulatory agencies for review and approval, where required
  • Prepare cannabis compliance/regulatory training for dispensaries, as needed
  • Disseminate state/local regulatory bulletins and notices and prepare communication on how the changes affect operations
  • Enforce accountability for compliance actions
  • Periodically travel to sites to ensure all employees are performing processes and procedures accurately and ensure company is compliant
  • Establish and maintain good rapport and communication with inspectors, state police and regulatory agencies
  • Prepare and update compliance processes, workflows, and check lists
  • Become a proficient user of the company’s document control system
  • Assist with special projects as directed by the Director of Regulatory Compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 6+ years retail operations experience with a focus on compliance
  • Knowledge of compliance in a highly regulated industry such as cannabis, pharmaceuticals, alcohol or tobacco preferred
  • Proven project management skills tracking and completing long-term or ongoing tasks
  • Skilled in communication with employees of all levels, from hourly workers to C suite executives
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Possesses a high level of critical thinking
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
  • Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Green Thumb
  • Must have a solid understanding of the Cannabis laws, rules and regulations and passion to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws.

  • Must pass any and all required background checks
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
