Department OverviewBy becoming a part of the Motorola Americas Commercial legal team, you become a part of helping public safety and commercial customers obtain the products and services needed for the moments that matter. From the legal procurement team working with subcontractors and vendor to obtain the supplies needed to run the business, to the legal pre-sales team negotiating contracts with customers, to the post-sales project team to complete our contracts as contracted on time and on budget, our team assist supports and facilitates the innovation and business efforts of Motorola Solutions.
Job Description
The Post-Sale Senior Commercial Contracts Manager is responsible post-award contract management. The successful candidate must ensure Motorola contractual commitments are met as well as, assist with meeting Motorola’s financial and business objectives. The full time position will be based on the West Coast or remote. A key responsibility of the position will be to drive and implement robust Change Management and Risk Management under the contract. You will draft Change Order Proposals, review, negotiate, and finalize Contract Modifications. This role develops negotiation strategies with internal business partners, evaluates risk exposure, and makes recommendations to business partners or legal counsel. The Contract Manager is responsible for limiting commercial risk, margin erosion and ensuring compliance with internal and external contracting policies.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Manage contract change control process and negotiate change orders and or amendments.
- Develop and execute actionable business strategies and help guide the customer and internal MSI stakeholders through the contract life cycle phases
- Analyze RFP or contractual requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure contract compliance with applicable laws and regulations and internal company policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance to the business and functional teams on the preparation of the statement of work and other exhibits.
- Provide guidance to the business on when to escalate risk issues to senior management and assist with the process to obtain internal approvals for proposal submission and contract execution. Identify and provide guidance to the business on the appropriate management of risks and issues. Suggest risk mitigation solutions.
- Collaborate with the business and other functional support teams to prepare contract amendments, change orders, proposals, exhibits, and other related contract or proposal documents.
- Oversee submission of contracts and proposals through internal company contract approval process.
- Brief manager on proposals and negotiations and establishes negotiation objectives.
- Administer and maintain customer and internal correspondence and other communications, prepare status reports, and assure proposals and contract submittals are made in a timely and coordinated manner consistent with customer and business requirements.
- Identify and recommend improvements to processes in relation to the job.
- May conduct legal or other due diligence research.
Specific Knowledge/Skills:
- Minimum of 7 years of Contract Management Administration experience working with either Federal Government or State and Local or Commercial contracts with evidence of increased levels of responsibility (NCMA Certification preferred).
- The position requires specialized skill and acumen in financial management, project management, and risk management
- Experience working in a telecommunications, highly technical scientific and/or engineering environment (Large Scale Integrator and Construction/Civil experience preferred).
- Purchasing/Procurement experience for full life cycle Subcontract Management from solicitation, award to close out (CPSR experience preferred)
- Contract Management knowledge and experience of contracting concepts and contract interpretation.
- Knowledge and experience with Change Management and Risk Management.
- Must be able to work under the pressure of deadlines and demands of a variety of business clients and contract counterparts.
- Computer aptitude a must; must be able to learn how to leverage internal systems quickly and with minimal supervision.
- Advanced Excel skills preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
