Position Summary

This role will be pivotal in supporting the Director of Engineering in advancing the company’s mission of delivering secure, reliable, and innovative software solutions for government clients. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, a commitment to fostering team growth, and have at least 5 years of experience managing technical teams in a fast-paced, Agile environment. This role is responsible for leading and developing high-performing technical teams, ensuring the successful delivery of mission-critical projects, and aligning team execution with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop technical teams to foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning. This involves proactive leadership, mentorship, and career development for all team members.
  • Oversee team operations and project delivery, managing day-to-day team operations such as project planning, prioritization, and execution. Ensure timely, high-quality, and secure outcomes that align with business goals.
  • Act as a force multiplier by accelerating engineering velocity by proactively identifying and removing roadblocks, optimizing team workflows, and championing Agile and DevOps best practices to maximize engineering velocity and product quality.
  • Ensure transparent and effective communication within the team and across the organization to facilitate stakeholder alignment. This involves translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and aligning technical efforts with strategic business objectives.
  • Drive technical excellence and continuous improvement by actively participating in code reviews, architectural discussions, and brainstorming sessions. This fosters technical quality, encourages innovation, and ensures the continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top technical talent to build a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing team.
  • Monitor performance and support professional growth by tracking individual and team performance, providing timely and constructive feedback, and implementing growth plans to drive ongoing improvement.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and innovations by continuously monitoring emerging technologies. Advocate for the adoption of relevant innovations to keep the team and products ahead of the curve.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Exceptional people management and mentoring skills, coupled with a proven track record of building, inspiring, and leading high-performing engineering teams.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years of experience managing technical teams. Demonstrated success in managing technical teams and delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong hands-on software engineering background, ideally as a full-stack engineer, with deep understanding of modern technologies and development practices.
  • Extensive experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices, driving high-velocity, high-quality software delivery.
  • Expertise in cloud computing, scalable architectures, and modern software development, with exposure to platforms like Azure or AWS.
  • Hands-on experience implementing AI, machine learning features, and functionalities in legacy tech stacks. Modernizing aging infrastructures with newer, relevant technologies.
  • A passion for delighting customers and building high-quality, secure, and reliable solutions.
  • Experience in working in segmented networks, as well understanding Department of Defense, Defense Logistics Agency (DoD, DLA) infrastructures, and securities a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Pay:

$136,000.00 - $204,000.00 + Eligible for Variable Compensation Plan
