In this newly created role, you will support organizational growth while formulating creative solutions to touch our end users in meaningful ways. Building reputation, brand awareness, and trust will be critical in this role as we continue to expand across various channels on a national and local stage. Ability to navigate within ambiguity, a service orientation, and a high level of humility are all requirements for successful assimilation into our highly collaborative, entrepreneurial culture.

How you can make a difference

  • Developing and executing a proactive and strategic internal and external communications strategy with plans to grow brand awareness, brand recognition, loyalty, and interest in VillageMD and Village Medical across traditional and digital media channels
  • Develop an overarching public relations strategy that proactively and consistently tells our story to the market
  • Provide ongoing strategic communications counsel to executive leadership, provide regular updates on team activity, and results as well as regular analysis of current and future communications landscape to identify potential opportunities and barriers, and to finetune communications strategy across external and internal communications functions.
  • Lead a team of communications professionals who design and implement strategies and programs that leverage paid, earned, social and owned media channels and promote strong storytelling, and leverage data-driven content in a measurable way.
  • Managing investor and government relations with a focus on maintaining and enhancing close working relationships with these entities
  • Leveraging your existing network and knowledge of the healthcare industry, work to position our thought leaders as experts who are regularly called upon to talk on specific industry topics
  • Developing a crisis communications strategy that accounts for our geographic disparity and the various crisis scenarios we could encounter as our organization scales
  • Leading relationships with agency partners to deliver high-quality and timely communications that support the business and communications priorities
  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to drive a consistent approach to internal communications to foster employee awareness and engagement
  • Aligning all our agency partners with overall corporate and communications plans
  • Drafting speeches for leadership to deliver at external conferences, speaking engagements and industry events
  • Identifying awards to submit for consideration – both for the organization and its leaders
  • Providing a high level of service and support to the business; successfully integrating into the corporate services and market operations team, and taking a partnership approach to getting things done
  • Internalizing business and market feedback to inform and if necessary, adjust strategy execution

Experience to drive change

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, public relations, or a relevant field required
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive business experience; recent experience in a communications leadership role
  • 10+ years’ experience in stakeholder management
  • Preferred experience working in a grassroots marketing environment
  • Healthcare experience and public company experience preferred
  • Exceptional writing skills and a proven track record of garnering media placements
  • Proven track record of formulated and executing communications plans that drive the business
  • Ability to mobilize resources to achieve results
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence; can integrate with a team, engender trust and leverage relationships to get work done
  • Proven project management skills evidenced by the ability to effectively coordinate multiple vendors and resources, meet deadlines, and adhere to budgets
  • Hands on approach including strong command of details
  • An optimistic outlook and “can do” attitude
  • You have a keen focus on results, and can navigate within ambiguity while maintaining a high-level of humility
  • Ability to travel as needed to our markets; anticipate 25% travel initially, but could fluctuate based on need
