Job Description

This role can also be located in Toronto, Canada

The Communications Manager plays a lead role in the external communications COE, supporting a multi-pronged PR plan that aligns with the company’s business growth objectives and overall strategy. This role will be essential in executing public relations activities to strengthen NielsenIQ’s reputation and market leader position as a thought leader and influencer. 

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the role include planning and overseeing the execution of communications initiatives to cement our position as an industry leader. Primary areas of focus include:

Public Relations

  • Write press releases, develop key messages and media Q&As, write and edit bylined articles and columns.

  • Assist in the execution of all media relations campaigns to promote the business’ expertise in business, trade and consumer press.

  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with key global T1 & T2 media/journalists for better management of media activities.

  • Demonstrate exceptional writing skills, including writing strategic plans, messaging and press materials; and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines.

  • Identify media opportunities and develop appropriate content.

  • Manage day-to-day media relations/media requests 

  • Work with our TL team to stay abreast of the latest material, news and events. 

Qualifications:

  • 5-7+ years experience in strategic communications (in public relations/strategic communications/marketing, corporate communications, and/or related fields, including research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing)

  • Undergraduate college degree required in Communications, Journalism or related field

  • Experience managing communications in consumer packaged goods, retail, advertising or media industries preferred

  • Previous experience working in a large organization with a multi-country footprint is preferred
