Chicago, Illinois / Full-time 

This position is only open to Chicago area candidates. Our team works under a hybrid remote/in-person model. While we are primarily WFH for the time being, we plan to resume some in-person meetings when it is safe to do so.

About the Role

The Competitive Intelligence Analyst is responsible for tracking and analyzing industry entities and the dynamic macroenvironment of the pet insurance industry to guide decision-making and alert internal stakeholders to critical changes in the marketplace. The analyst must exhibit boundless passion and curiosity of the pet insurance and InsurTech industries and understand how trends and market forces impact the future of the industry and company.

 

Essential Functions

The primary purpose of this position will be gathering relevant data to determine the likely course of action for marketing, product development, and sales.

Analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information, identifying implications and observing patterns, drawing conclusions, explaining facts, data, or information to evaluate competitors' products/services, strategic direction, and core competencies utilizing a wide variety of resources. Research and investigate Pet Insurance Market and other InsurTech innovations and strategies. Produce written reports and meet with leadership to discuss potential options to stay ahead of competitors.

 

Essential Duties

  • Create quantitative models of market share, market growth, and forecasting
  • Research customer choices, market trends, and competitor’s strategies
  • Issue regular reports on market, macro environment, and competitive intelligence changes
  • Develop and maintain competitor insights in a centralized intelligence library
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing stakeholders to evaluate emerging competitors based on geographies, service lines, etc.
  • Provide ad hoc subject matter analysis
  • Support product management with product feature gap analysis, competitive threats, and product launch strategies derived from competitive analysis.

  • Investigate, collect, and curate competitor profiles as well as any insights into customer experience
  • Extensive use of Excel and/or any other analytical tools for completing data analysis
  • Solid writing and strong presentation skills
  • Organized and efficient to meet tight deadlines
  • Great attention to detail

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field
  • Experience with digital media analysis, research or measurement strongly preferred
  • 2-3 years Market Research, Marketing, Analytics, or related field
  • 2+ years of professional experience in an insurance-specific role preferred
