We are searching for a Manager of Content Marketing to join our marketing team. This position reports directly to the Apex Chief Operating Officer and will build and lead the content strategy for Apex.
You will be responsible for:
- Building thought leadership content and unique messaging across the PEAK6 portfolio of companies in support of PR and social media efforts
- Collaborating cross-functionally to produce a wide variety of content including blog posts, social media posts, whitepapers, website copy, podcasts, etc.
- Establishing a workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content, working with Marketing Operations, Product, and Engineering teams to implement content initiatives through owned channels
- Managing a robust content calendar that includes all external communications, content, timing, and ownership across functional teams, partnering with PR/Communications to win media coverage, place contributed bylines, and other earned media opportunities
- Developing social media strategy and leading content creation, posting, and analyzing results for company's and executives' social accounts
- Executing ongoing content audits and optimize strategic touchpoints accordingly
- Working with the in-house Creative Team and identifying/onboarding new content agencies or freelancers to support robust content development streams
- Developing and implementing creative assets and best practices to ensure content is consistently and effectively positioned across all channels and touchpoints
- Influencing all facets of content development: Planning, creation, approvals, editing, publishing/activating, repurposing, promoting, tracking, measuring, maintaining
- Seamlessly pivoting between three distinct worlds:
- 1) Business (understanding and respecting objectives of the diverse product portfolio)
- 2) Ideation (rapidly conceptualizing feasible, engaging content)
- 3 Production (creating and delivering content as a member of the Marketing Team)
- Partnering with Marketing Operations and Analytics teams to ensure SEO strategies are all well developed, content is optimized, and rankings are consistently analyzed to ensure maximum efficiencies and impact
- Partnering with Product Marketing and owners of specific content to revise and measure related marketing goals
- Continuously maintaining and building an intimate level of knowledge of different portfolio personas and what motivates them, mapping content strategies to each persona
- Producing compelling storytelling across written, audio, and visual media, working with PR/Communications team to earn media coverage and placement on third-party channels
- Showcasing best practices by producing content in multimedia formats (e.g. videos, podcasts, article write-ups) featuring compelling stories from executive team leaders, key personnel, etc.
- Clearly communicating strategy, recommendations, and results to internal leadership while influencing decision-making across a matrixed organization
- Monitoring trends, issues, and topics that matter to the business to create relevant insights
- Balancing long-term visioning with immediate needs
- Driving best practices and continuous improvement, and providing recommendations for content innovation
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Design, English, Marketing, Communications, or related field
- 7+ years' experience with brand strategy, content strategy, and content development
- 7+ years' experience in brand marketing, advertising, marketing communications
- Deep knowledge of SEO strategies and tactics
- Expert knowledge of social media and CMS platforms and solutions
- Proven experience in developing, executing, and managing content plan development to successful execution. Experience producing content across a range of formats e.g. written, visual, hybrid, and live/event-based both on and offline
- Proven experience using narratives and storytelling to build strong loyalty for brands
- Understanding of what it means to work in a regulated industry with preferred experience developing content and shepherding this content through a compliance review process
- Strong results orientation, with a proven desire and ability to think strategically and creatively, coupled with financial acumen and strong analytical/problem-solving skills, and bottom-line P&L management
- Excellent communication skills; articulate, influential, and strong public speaking and writing skills, and effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to influence, capable of getting various functional team members to reach a common goal without relying on direct reporting lines
- Strong business acumen coupled with strategic analysis experience
- Preferred experience within financial services or fintech more broadly
- Team player and collaborator with all internal/external stakeholders, with experience successfully leading teams, whether directly or indirectly
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize with strong project management skills
- Motivated self-starter and ability to work under pressure without daily guidance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience building a content strategy from scratch, serving multiple brands
- Collaborator: ability & proven track record working with other creatives and disciplines
- Ability to work well with internal and external partners, while staying organized and energized
- Work across all types of platforms such as: website, landing pages, blog posts, whitepapers, social media, newsletters
- Create content that can serve brand marketing efforts as well as content that improves SEO
- Provide creative direction, ensure that creative solutions are appropriate for the targeted audience, meet specific criteria, reflect brand standards and are consistent with strategic marketing goals
- Ensure that all content maintains a high standard of quality
- Maintain a high level of knowledge about products, positioning, benefits, and features as well as a detailed understanding of distribution strategies and channels
- High energy and the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Works well under pressure and tight deadlines
- Strong relationship development and negotiating skills; able to earn respect and trust among internal and external business partners and team members
