Position Summary

Tall Ridge is seeking a Forecasting Manager to work with a compelling roster of clients to develop and optimize our forecasting & purchasing model. This position plays a key role in leading communication for clients and products with key counterparts in Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Finance. This person will design and generate weekly and monthly forecasting, inventory, and purchasing reports. Based on changes in demand and market trends, this person will recommend adjustments to forecast and inventory targets. Working under the direction and guidance of the Director, Demand Planning & Forecasting, this person will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the Purchasing field with a high potential for growth.  

 

Key Responsibilities

• Regularly audits brand and channel sales forecasts for accuracy, data integrity, and trend recognition.

• Turns executive-level forecast into SKU level sales & purchase plan.

• Ensures on-time delivery of POs to clients based on lead times from vendor, internal processing times, and outbound time to key sales channels.

• Functions as key Tall Ridge representative to clients for sales forecast, purchasing, and monthly projection reviews.

• Identifies risks and opportunities in the forecast, allowing for growth opportunities while minimizing exposure to out of stocks and excess stock.

• Runs accuracy and attainment reporting that allows management to see underlying patterns and acts as a mechanism to focus improvement efforts.

• Regularly reviews and audits item level forecasting & analysis. Produces reports to guide decision-making. Provides clear quantitative analysis to support large adjustments on key items and clients.

• Works closely with clients to improve forecasts, fill rates, delivery times, and in-stock rates.

• Analyze & report on PO deliveries, on-order product, client & internal cancellations on a weekly basis. Provide forecast updates to Leadership on revenue and shortfalls to budget or forecast.

• Develop and send out reports to Leadership that provide sales & inventory KPIs, at the brand level and consolidated level. Ensure reports are helpful to and utilized by key stakeholders. Adjust as necessary to improve learning.

• Works with CFO and Controller to ensure sales & purchase forecasts align with internal plan & cash flow outlook.

 

Key Outputs/Results

• Management is well informed and has detailed analyses to support decision-making. Recommendations are made based on key findings.

• Appropriate inventory levels are set and utilized to maximize growth while minimizing excess stock.

• Each client & channel has the correct mix & quantity of inventory to maximize sales & growth potential

• Pushes constant improvement on forecasting & provides quantitative reasoning for adjustments.

• Leadership has a clear understanding of potential upcoming risks and can develop a strategy to address challenges.

• Descriptive, predictive & prescriptive analysis is regularly provided to ensure Leadership has a clear understanding of our 3-, 6- & 12-month outlook on sales and purchases.

 

Requirements of Role

• Strong analytical skills

• Strong statistical math skills

• Strong client relations & communication skills

• Master of Excel, good with Python, SQL, R (ability to use programming languages to retrieve, analyze, mine, & visualize data - this is not a developer role)

 

Successful Experience

• 5 years’ experience in a sales or data analyst role.

• Degree in Business, Finance or Statistics preferred

• Experience working closely with upper management

• Experience working with multiple clients

• Experience putting together presentations

• Competent with a data mining tool (like Business Objects)

Tall Ridge has 2 office locations: our main office is in Elk Grove Village, and our satellite office is at TechNexus, located in downtown Chicago
