Cars.com is seeking an enthusiastic, analytical-minded individual to join our team as a Digital Media Trafficker within the Cars.com Consumer Marketing function. The Cars.com Consumer Marketing Team is responsible for all consumer-facing media, including digital and offline channels and our digital marketing program is robust with cutting-edge tactics and proven strategies. The Ad Trafficker will work in partnership with our Digital Channel owners to ensure all campaigns are trafficked accurately and provide ongoing campaign maintenance to ensure optimal delivery. 

Within this role the Digital Marketing Operations Analyst will be responsible for all day-to-day operations including campaign set-up, receipt/development of creative or tags, trafficking creative, testing, troubleshooting and heavy QA. Responsibilities will also include providing regular reports to internal stakeholders on campaign performance, as well as proactively alerting stakeholders to any issues or problems related to fulfillment, delivery and/or quality of digital assets trafficked. This individual will also be asked to track, measure and analyze the performance of multiple simultaneous advertising campaigns, including creating detailed performance reports and proposing effective optimization strategies, as well as handle billing and budget-related duties.

A secondary role for this position may be to support our consumer acquisition marketing initiatives through general analytics. This would include generating and translating acquisition marketing data into a valuable, data-based analytical stories easily digestible for our digital marketing channel stakeholders across the organization.

Overall the candidate must quickly learn and understand the objectives of our program and its impact on the Cars.com business. Critical thinking and data optimization skills are a must. A candidate must be a highly motivated, positive, organized self-starter who can work well with a variety of tasks and adapt quickly to different business needs and projects. From day one, a candidate must be accountable, detail oriented, and able to deliver valuable, accurate and professional results and communications on time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately setting up online advertising campaigns
  • Proactively QA, troubleshoot and solve campaign performance issues
  • Manage, run, interpret, and share recurring weekly and monthly performance results with partners throughout the organization
  • Collaborating cross departmentally using effective communication to accomplish company goals
  • Performing Quality Assurance of all campaign materials prior to launch, including display, pixels and 3rd party ad tags

Required skills:

  • Outstanding communication (both written and verbal), organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and creatively while adapting to change
  • Critical thinker; can determine and execute on the best path forward through problems where not all questions can be answered
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Google’s DoubleClick Campaign Manager (DCM) platform including a deep understanding of ad trafficking; knowledge of click and impression tags, macros, tracking pixels and script functions a strong plus
  • Familiarity with online media buying and selling, advertising technology solutions and ad network business models
  • Experience with digital analytics and online reporting tools
  • Ability to employ moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel to manage analyses and present data-heavy information in clear and concise manner to all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow through
  • Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize projects effectively
  • Capability to work proactively under pressure in a deadline-driven environment, understand customer needs and build relationships
  • Strong understanding of creating process workflows

Required Experience:

  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent
  • 2-5 years in digital ad operations
  • 2+ years’ experience in DCM
  • 1+ years’ experience in performance marketing for an eCommerce and/or online lead generation business with large inventory/SKUs
  • Track record of creating and delivering reporting analysis on tight deadlines
  • Proficiency within Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel knowledge
  • Consistent examples of strong presentation skills including verbal presentation, PowerPoint creation and formal written documents
  • History of continuous professional education and growth
  • Knowledge of the following tools a plus:
    • Web troubleshooting tools (Browser Dev Tools, Ghostery, Charles)
    • Web analytics tools (Adobe Omniture & Ad-Hoc, etc.)
    • BI platforms (BOXI/BOBI, etc.)
    • Attribution tools (VisualIQ)
    • Ad serving technology and search platforms (DFP, DFA, Google AdWords, etc.)
    • Data visualization tools (Tableau, etc.)
