About the Team:
The Marketing function will reinvigorate the Illinois Lottery brand through innovative insight-led programs such as enhanced games, effective social messaging and original advertising campaigns.
Position Overview:
The Director of Product is responsible for delivering all games, categories and brand objectives, and ensuring they are aligned with the overall marketing and corporate financial and non-financial objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Overall P&L responsibility for the Draw Based Game, Instant Game and any future game categories.
- Lead, manage, motivate and develop the Products teams.
- Develop and maintain a clear consumer and brand strategy that cascades throughout product development and communications, ensuring quality, consistency and delivery of the company’s values and vision.
- Develop and support delivery of the annual marketing plan including strategy, objectives and associated activities for the lottery brand and individual games.
- Assist in briefing, development and execution of the integrated consumer and channel marketing plans, and specifically all consumer-facing communications including creative and media planning.
- Assist in strategic development of all communications with the support of agency partners and internal teams to deliver high quality campaigns.
- Own the product development and innovation roadmap, defining new consumer propositions and product investment opportunities.
- Work with partner teams to define and quantify category sources of business - consumers, channels, shoppers and customers.
- Through research, trend analysis and understanding of product performance, provide regular updates of brand and product strategy, and communicate this to the business and product/design teams.
- Responsible for identifying and securing key capabilities required to deliver the category strategy.
- Help Define brand and communication metrics for campaign activities, and analyze performance and tracking data.
- Analyze game and revenue performance, sales trends etc. to provide accurate interpretation of macro trends for use in the development of strategy and corrective actions.
Requirements
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field.
- 10 plus years experience in product and/or brand marketing or related marketing discipline.
- 5 plus years of relevant experience in brand and/or consumer product marketing, preferably in a lottery, gaming industry, e-commerce or consumer or CPG experience.
- Strong skills in marketing analytics, KPI-driven decision-making and performance-based marketing.
- Demonstrated expertise directing creative teams to successful outcomes.
- Experience developing and managing marketing budgets and forecast.
Preferred:
- Ideally lottery or related industry experience.
- Prior role as a Product Marketing Manager or Brand Manager is required (or similar title).
- First-hand experience in brand development; mobile, online and traditional advertising; CRM; social media and PR; creative marketing; retention marketing; etc...
- An experienced marketing leader with demonstrable success in developing and growing high profile brands, ideally within a CPG company.
- Track record of successful NPD innovation and product launches that have delivered incremental revenues.
- Experience developing brand and category strategies and vision, leading teams to execute against it, with a track record of transforming brand communications and consumer re-appraisal.
- Knowledge of the advertising creative development process and media marketplace to a sufficient level to be able to clearly direct advertising agencies and the internal team.
- High level of knowledge of communication evaluation processes and brand performance metrics to a sufficient level.
- Strong capability to develop brand requirements for product development briefs.
- Able to demonstrate a strong track record of leading teams, developing talent and inspiring creativity and innovation.
- Ability to construct presentations that are clear, persuasive and relevant to the target audience.
- Demonstrate an openness to learn from others and actively share knowledge and experience.
- Experience working within the Microsoft Suites and/or Google Suite technologies.
