Office Designs (www.officedesigns.com) is an e-commerce business focused on offering high-end ergonomic seating, modern office furniture, and office décor products to small and mid-size businesses. Full-service offerings include design and layout services, curated product offering and installation. Because of our capabilities, we are selectively authorized to offer high-quality brands such as Herman Miller, Steelcase, Humanscale, and Haworth.

Areas of Focus

Direct Commerce Group is looking for a Merchandise Manager who will own the merchandising and product catalog for our Office Designs storefront and ERP. The ideal candidate will work closely with the marketing team to develop and execute a successful online merchandising strategy as well as ensure all aspects of product data and structure are accurate and complete. This person will need to work routinely to constantly improve the shopping experience and product offering on our site.

Key Functions

  • Own the product catalog end to end. Ensure all product data is updated, accurate and complete
    • Perform yearly price increases for all brands
    • Build and launch new products when available
    • Regularly audit and update product catalog as needed
  • Work with purchasing department to ensure stock levels match demand on site
  • Be the main contact between Office Designs and our brands, actively fostering relationships and communicating regularly
    • Price Increases
    • Promotions
    • New Product Releases
  • Recommend and utilize merchandising and content tools to ensure optimal productivity of key web pages
  • Maintain site navigation structure to provide the most optimal customer experience and ensure the right products are easy to find
  • Ownership of on-site cross-sell product recommendations and opportunities
  • Create and implement an efficient and effective process to add new products to the site (and custom products as needed)
    • Propose new product offerings based on current trends in the office interior design industry, as well as competitor offerings
    • Analyze onsite/offsite search data, competitive and new product launched to make catalog recommendations
    • Review new product web descriptions, online images and online placement for accuracy and optimization with eCommerce marketing techniques in mind
    • Work closely with the eCommerce Manager, Creative Director, and Content teams ensuring product image assets and content are completed in a timely and comprehensive manner
  • Monitor business and site performance on a daily basis
    • Ensure products are presented in a manner that is easy to shop, compare and purchase (maintain accurate pricing)
    • Review onsite search reports and make recommendations for improved merchandising
    • Make sure best sellers and new product launches are prioritized while balancing positioning of major product categories
  • Become an authority on our competition. Provide ongoing research and generation of ideas via competitive analysis for best-in-class digital experience, including but not limited to: site content, merchandising, custom landing pages and curated shopping experiences
  • Coordinate with Amazon marketplace team to optimize offering (share insights and learnings)

Important Qualities

We are looking for someone with merchandising experience and that has been a key member of an eCommerce team for a growing company.

Applicant Requirements:

  • 3+ years of retail experience in online merchandising; 1+ year of experience in an eCommerce environment strongly preferred
  • Action-oriented and flexible: must demonstrate a capacity to operate successfully in a fast-paced, changing environment to make fact-based decisions and implement recommendations quickly to drive continuous improvement
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong data management skills
  • Magento and Netsuite experience a plus
  • Reacts to business trends in a timely and efficient manner, while ensuring continuity with strategic goals
  • Communication skills: ability to communicate effectively at all levels and methods. Strong team building skills. Partners across departments and throughout the organization
  • Solid organization and planning skills: detailed oriented to manage customer requirements and understand product configurations
  • 2+ years of web analytics (Google Analytics or comparable) experience in a consumer-facing business (preferably retail, e-commerce)
  • Analytical skills: able to review data, determine conclusions, and take actions on the next steps
  • Great problem-solver: a knack for asking the right questions, building hypotheses, and proving or disproving hypotheses by tracking down the right insights in the data
  • Multi-tasking, ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Able to maintain and develop top-level, internal and external relationships 
  • Strategic thinker with an ability to translate strategy into actionable tactics
  • Positive attitude/team player
  • Interest or experience with furniture a plus.
