The Opportunity
The Illinois Technology Association (ITA) is expanding our team!  We are seeking a forward-thinking Email/Digital Marketing Specialist, who will oversee all aspects of ITA’s digital presence – social, website, email marketing, newsletters.

At ITA, we don’t like to sit still.  We hosted or partnered to produce almost 120 events in 2018, ranging from large, 500 person galas to smaller, 10 person dinners to training workshops for 50. Our team, programs and culture reflect the drive, passion and entrepreneurship of our members.  We’re looking for an energetic innovator who will run with the opportunity to experiment with new ideas and tactics to help drive the success of our programs.

About this Job:

  • This role requires a creative and strategic mind, who will design innovative and effective marketing approaches that will build ITA’s brand, drive attendance at ITA events and generate new membership and sponsorship leads
  • Like organization? You’ll develop and maintain ITA’s editorial and content calendar and work collaboratively with the team to align editorial calendar to larger themes
  • Trendsetter alert! Produce weekly newsletters and other digital content (videos, podcasts) to ensure member and industry constituencies stay abreast of current activities and industry trends
  • Must love people: you’ll manage ITA’s social media across multiple channels and brands
  • Be a little nerdy! We want you to manage the design and content of the ITA’s web and mobile presence
  • Now approaching collaboration station - you will work closely with the ITA community (our partners, members and inspiration) to develop original content about ITA’s members and the technology industry
  • Speaking of our web presence, our Digital Marketing Specialist will be constantly on the lookout for opportunities for paid promotional campaigns (along with overseeing those)
  • Talk data to us: you will identify key metrics for and track performance of marketing and content activities across platforms
  • There’s no “I” in team! This is not always a nine to five job.  Because of our heavy program offerings there may be days that require getting in early or leaving late.  You also must be willing to roll up your sleeves and never think you are above any task.  Everyone pitches in where and when needed, no matter the ask.

The soft skills:

  • A self-starter who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and who pursues objectives with passion and intensity.  Constantly looks for things to do.  Self-confident and proactive; generates activity for themselves rather than waiting for instruction.
  • Must be able to thrive in a highly autonomous position while also working effectively with team members toward the larger picture (aka an individual team player)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies and processes
  • Ability to keep track of many small details without losing track of the big picture
  • A sense of humor, and a willingness to take chances with irreverent or unorthodox content

The hard skills:

  • High level of proficiency with social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Advanced experience with ESPs (email service providers). For example: ExactTarget, MailChimp, Constant Contact.
  • Ability to work with HTML / CSS within a Content Management System
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with Wix, Squarespace or WordPress
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or similar
  • 1 - 2 years of experience in advertising, marketing or corporate communications.
  • Located in or around Chicago, IL
