Head of Product Marketing - Professional Software

Our Product Marketing team is critical to achieving this goal. We are looking for a Head of Product Marketing for our Professional Software Business. The Professional Software business is a home of manufacturing and innovation at Morningstar. The individuals in this group transform our high-quality data, independent research, and technological expertise into well-designed software products that empowers our clients. The group’s product management, product development, product marketing and client success teams collaborate with our Sales, Client Solutions group to help provide clients with relevant products and bundled solutions.
The Role: We are looking for an experienced leader to assume overall global responsibility for the marketing strategy of Morningstar's Professional Software business and ensure the success of a dynamic and growing team. In this role you will have the opportunity to launch new and innovative products within an established software ecosystem, define go-to-market strategies, and retention programs. You will partner and define strategies with Morningstar’s CMO and central marketing organization to extend the brand reputation and creative experiences, as well as partner and execute on global campaigns with Morningstar demand generation center and international operations. You will be responsible for leading a team of 8-12 product marketers as well as matrixed campaign, operational and creative team members, and a seven figure marketing budget. Reporting to the Head of Software Products, you'll be a member of the group’s executive team, and responsible for defining and driving marketing resource needs across the group. This position is located in one of our major offices, preferably in Chicago.
Responsibilities
Partner with product and functional executives in defining go to market strategies globally.
Ensure product messaging is compelling and consistent with the Morningstar mission.
Develop high-level, needs-based campaign themes that transcend multiple products.
Launch new offerings. Integrate launches to campaigns as reasonable.
Prioritize and allocate marketing resources thoughtfully.
Set, oversee, and communicate measurable marketing objectives.
Hire and coach top talent.
Be a trusted voice bringing knowledge of the marketplace into all our thinking and planning.
Evangelize. Act as a key spokesperson at industry events, to the media, to industry influencers, customers, and other key audiences.
Collaborate with demand center to create sales tools and enablement plans.
Partner with our behavioral science team to promote test and learn experiments and mindset.
Continuously learn and develop deep subject matter expertise of Morningstar solutions, industry trends, prospect profiles, and marketing best practices.
Qualifications
15+ years of product marketing experience in SaaS or software/technology firms. Experience in financial services technology is a plus.
Track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies and multi-channel marketing programs helping coach them to their full potential and driving a spirit of continuous improvement.
Experience managing multiple products in a marketing portfolio.
Executive presentation skills to all types of audiences, including executive leadership, clients, and partners.
Must be data-driven and understand how to translate marketing metrics into opportunities for action.
Self-starter and passion for investing, committed to testing, learning, and iterating.
Previous experience partnering closely with sales teams to deliver sales enablement assets/training and having accountability for influencing sales pipeline development and participating in client engagements.
Experience developing, delivering and optimizing annual and multi-year strategic marketing plans and accompanying budgets.
Bachelor's degree; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
