Internal Communications Specialist
What will your day look like?
The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the delivery of internal communication strategy, employee recognition strategy, change initiatives, tracking and managing project plans, assisting with business unit and enterprise meetings, and supporting the development of communications and training material for end users. The incumbent will create clear and consistent communications and resources across multiple channels that enrich the employee experience. Work requires the ability to successfully champion internal communication, employee recognition and employee engagement to enhance the employee experience and drive change. General direction is received from the Manager, Culture & Internal Communications.

- Develop, implement and support organizational communication plans and change initiatives
- Continuously improve and find opportunities to measure communication effectiveness
- Assist in evaluating feedback from multiple channels to strengthen connections and improve communications
- Work closely with the Human Capital Group on enhancing the employee experience and ensuring consistency of messaging and content alignment with enterprise goals, objectives, and internal brand
- Support efforts to drive and strengthen the employer brand internally and externally through existing programs, storytelling and social media presence
- Create communications assets for internal campaigns including emails, presentations, intranet posts and microsites, newsletters, posters, flyers, banners, videos, etc.
- Assist with intranet content creation and planning and continuously update SharePoint sites with new and relevant content and lead the Alliant storytelling program
- Assist organizational leaders with creating and delivering impactful communications to serve their strategic and department priorities and support organizational change initiatives
- Support the Human Capital Group with creation and implementation of organizational strategies focusing on leadership development, change leadership, diversity, equity & inclusion, team building and employee engagement and drive adoption of these strategies by working with leadership/management and end users
- Coordinate and track status of initiatives including project timelines ensuring key milestones are met, and the project is completed on time with high quality
- Continually and proactively identify and address possible areas of resistance to change and build strategies to mitigate challenges or risks
- Lead the company employee recognition strategy and program by managing the recognition platform, analyzing usage report and propose tactics that will increase participation and engagement with the program through thoughtful and well-written nominations for the quarterly awards
- Lead the design, creation and execution of a company-wide President’s recognition event
- Partner with the Alliant Credit Union Foundation and Director Social Impact on creating a strategy for engaging employees with Alliant’s social impact program, promote the employee volunteer opportunities and coordinate employee in-person and virtual volunteering events
- Adhere to and ensure compliance of all business transactions with policy and process of the Bank Secrecy Act. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, company procedures and policies. Maintain integrity and ethics in all actions and conversations with or regarding credit union members and their accounts; complies with Privacy Act directives.
Qualifications

You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field is required, and you have:
- 2+ years’ professional experience with corporate communications, including experience with internal communications and change management
- Experience supporting organizational change management and implementing communication plans to large corporate projects
- Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Team-player with excellent relationship-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience facilitating and leading meetings
- Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with all levels of the organization
- Ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Internal communications and AP style writing experience, desired
- Experience in intranet content management systems, SharePoint strongly desired
