Job Description
This Insights & Analytics Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the measurement and analytics framework and strategy to support the McDonald’s U.S. Communications and Government Relations organization. This includes building and leading the implementation of a scorecard, process, and infrastructure to better measure inputs, outputs, and outcomes across the function including U.S. brand reputation, campaigns, traditional media & social media reporting, issues management, partner engagement, and internal benchmarks.
- Gather and analyze insights and data to inform priorities and strategy, issues and long term opportunities.
- Use a consistent framework, tools and methods of measurement to track performance.
- Establish a common language and definitions of metrics to enable comparison across campaigns and efforts.
- Create a consistent and highly visual report format and scorecard, process and timeline for each partner group (executives, internal CR teams, local market operators) with the information they need to make decisions.
- Ensure teams use clear and consistent critical metrics across campaigns that ladder up to business impact.
- Develop a set of benchmarks that give the context of the metrics
- Test and optimize the process and infrastructure that allows for learning over time and optimize our communications strategy on how to manage and plan initiatives.
Communications Measurement Strategy & Counsel
- Assesses and understand McDonald’s measurement and reporting gaps, and leads the development of roadmap and plan
- Audits current processes and reviews metrics/critical metrics at all levels
- Builds and creates a scalable infrastructure and process to provide consistency, structure, and flexibility.
- Builds standard reporting tools so all partners can easily view, input, store and visualize data and insights to more easily spot trends.
- Builds Communications/GR scorecard and database for a holistic view of results across the organization and year-over-year tracking capability
- Streamlines vendors and inputs to create stronger efficiencies and consistent approach
- Aligns communications measurement strategy with key U.S. Business departments (marketing, insights, field teams) in addition to other Communication departmental areas (e.g., global media relations, public affairs/strategy, and the global insights team) and PR agency partners.
Relationship Building
- Develops and maintains relationships with key partners across the U.S. Business, especially with those departments and individuals that the Communications team supports as well as with Owner/Operators, field marketing and communications and national and local PR agencies.
- Represents U.S. Communications & Government Relations both internally within the McDonald’s system and externally at industry and business functions, events, etc. Brings back knowledge and new information to the team and department to further collective skills development, leadership.
Agency & Vendor Management
- Manages measurement/reporting vendors and national and local agency partners in the development of communications measurement strategy and PR programs to support ownership areas
- Monitors and guides agency spend against established budgets to ensure effective resource management
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS degree
- Experience working in research/analytics and/or Public Relations, Coordinated Marketing or Digital/Social
- Experience using traditional and social media monitoring tools and related metrics reporting
- Results-oriented with proven experience in leading teams
- Positive attitude and Strong attention to detail, self-starter
- Creative thinker with strong strategic attitude; solid experience in concept to execution of new ideas
- You should enjoy working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, deadline-focused, ambiguous yet dynamic environment with constant change
