The Commercial Strategy COE is growing to better support our great local brands and leadership team tackle the organization’s highest-priority commercial/vendor strategic initiatives and identify continued near and long-term strategic opportunities. 
This position will report to the Commercial or Vendor Strategy Lead. The position will have exposure to our various leaders across our Brands (Stop & Shop, Giant Martin, Giant Foods, Food Lion, and Hannaford) and Functional Leadership teams.

Recipe for Success- What's “in store” for the role 

• Working directly with PDL Associates & Leadership to lead and shape major strategic initiatives, including: new customer centric and innovative growth strategies, business process improvements, large strategic events, and commercial/vendor competitive evaluation
• Participate in the annual strategic planning and integrated business planning process across PDL functions 
• Develop US commercial/vendor market, customer, and sector dynamics and trends 
• Identify key opportunities and risks for the commercial/vendor business 
• Contribute to PDL priorities and roadmap for development and implementation
• Work effectively across the broader PDL organization and with business partners/stakeholders throughout the organization with oversight from Strategy Leads and mentorship from other Strategy Managers
• Work collaboratively, cross functionally to deliver innovative and high impact initiatives aligned to the commercial/vendor strategy
• Act as an ambassador for our commercial/vendor strategy and as the primary contact for commercial/vendor strategic queries
• Deliver key messages to stakeholders and escalate issues accordingly
• Assemble meaningful presentations to share PDL’s strategy and progress for senior stakeholders
• Directly overseeing 1-2 strategy development initiatives and projects at any given time
• Indirectly overseeing implementation of strategic initiatives by counterparts/stakeholders within the organization 

The Essentials In Your Cart-The required ingredients

• Visual storytelling using PowerPoint with support from Commercial/Vendor Strategy Lead 
• Good verbal and written communicator 
• Financial understanding of retail P&L
• Strong analytical aptitude with ability to use Excel, Alteryx, and PowerBI to highlight insights 
• Experience in customerfacing business environments
• eCommerce experience is a plus
• Track record of successful delivery of large scale - cross functional / Brand development projects
• Excels at establishing and fostering cross-functional relationships
• Managing resistance to change 
• Influencing leadership at the strategic level 
• Conceptual thinker and problem solver
• Process-oriented
• Highly effective communicator – especially when it comes to executive story lining and communications
• Intimate knowledge of approaches to build strategies and various supporting strategic frameworks 

Extra Spices - What you should bring to the table

• Bachelor’s degree; specializations in Strategy, Marketing, Operations, Organizations/Change Management would be beneficial 
• 3+ years of business experience; management consulting experience is a plus
